The Spinney is set in its own bluebell woods. There are badgers, deer, pheasant and many birds who also call The Spinney home.

The property is approached by its own long driveway through the woods, set off a quiet road. There is a turning point on the drive which can park two cars and there is space for a third car in front of the house.

There is a patio and small lawn in front of the property, which overlooks the woodland and the Vale of Evesham beyond. To the rear is a lockable shed for bike storage. Children should be attended at all times when playing outside.

The bluebells usually peak in late April and May, but the woods are beautiful throughout the year.

The Central England/Cotswolds region

The Cotswolds is one of the most beautiful areas of England, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with honey-stoned villages nestled in rolling, green English countryside.

Originally a centre of the wool trade, the Cotswolds is scattered with historical villages filled with honey-stone cottages, boutique shopping and tea shops. Many visitors are attracted to the lush countryside, offering plentiful walking on long-distance paths, cycling, horse-riding, golf and fishing. You'll never be far from a traditional pub serving real-ale, hearty food and a friendly welcome.

There are many attractions in the Cotswolds including leading gardens (Batsford Arboretum, Hidcote Gardens), wildlife centres (Cotswold Falconry Centre, Cotswold Wildlife Park, WWT Slimbridge), stately homes (Chastleton House, Blenhiem Palace) and other attractions (Toddington Railway, Broadway Tower, Bourton Model Railway and Model Village). The Spinney is well located for day trips to Oxford, Bath, Cheltenham and Warwick.

Saintbury

Saintbury is a picturesque village that perches on the edge of the Cotswold escarpement, affording it stunning views over the Vale of Evesham. St Nicholas's church is Grade I listed and dates from the 13th century.

There is a range of beautiful walks from The Spinney's gates, including the long-distance, brewery-themed Donnington Way. The National Cotswold Way starts from Chipping Campden, just over the hill.

Nearby Broadway (3 miles) is a quintessential Cotswold village, with a wide High Street and beautiful honey-coloured Cotswold stone cottages. It has a deli stocking local produce, art galleries, boutique shops, traditional pubs and excellent restaurants. Chipping Campden is a similar distance. Both villages can be easily reached on walks directly from the Spinney.

The local Farncombe Estate offers a range of courses including arts, music, photography, history and astronomy (www.farncombecourses.co.uk). Broadway Golf Club and horse riding in Stanton are also nearby.

Stratford-upon-Avon is only 30 minutes drive offering the opportunity to see a performance by The Royal Shakespeare Company during your stay.

"A lovely cottage, well equipped with beautiful views"

A great place to stay while visiting the Cotswolds. The Spinney was well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The owners have created a helpful folder with useful information and ideas. There are lots of beautiful places to see locally such as Bourton on the Water and good shopping towns like Cheltenham nearby. Warwick Castle is also a good day out. Would recommend.

"Great cottage in a fantastic location."

Travelled here my wife and two daughters. It was perfect for our requirements. Due to it's location the kids were free to run about outside without us having to worry about traffic
We weren't too sure about the size of the place from the pictures but were very happy when we arrived as it's bigger than it looks on the internet and has plenty of room. There was everything we needed in the cottage and the communication from the owner was first class. She sent a list of everything in the cottage and directions in the form of text, maps and pictures.
The cottage is in a very peaceful location but it is only ever a short drive to go and find something to do.
The Spinney is an absolutely beautiful cottage in a wonderful location

"A lovely, tranquil cottage"

We had a lovely stay at The Spinney in June. With six of us sharing it was cosy but by no means over-crowded. The setting is peaceful, and the views are stunning. Nothing beats waking up to the bleating of lambs in the morning!

Also a special mention for the owner, Katie, who had been fantastic at giving us info about the local area. She has been a pleasure to liaise with. Would highly recommend

"Nice and well equipped cottage in the woodland"

We were 4 adults and 2 young childrens. We asked for a high chair and for a cot. Katie was very helpful throughout (for travel data, for booking an Taxi, or for solving an oversight about our late departure booking ...). Except the troubles for opening the cottage (sometimes it takes 2 seconds to open the main door and sometimes 1-2 minutes) or about the forgetting on our hour of departure (which was solved by Katie and she refunded our deposit for our late departure option) everything was fine...The cottage is very cosy, well-equipped, well cleaned. We founded that the kitchen and the lounge are small compare to the bedrooms. We really enjoyed our stay and we thanks Katie for everything.

Thank you for writing a review for your recent stay at The Spinney.

I'm ever so sorry about my mistake in securing your late departure as previously arranged, which required some much appreciated flexibility on your part. Thank you for being so understanding.

We've looked into the key issue and appear to have been solved the problem by changing the keys we use and oiling the lock. Thank you for letting us know promptly so that we could help find a temporary solution for you during your stay.

I'm really pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that you found the cottage cosy, well-equipped and cleaned.

Best wishes,
Katie

"Beautiful place to get away from it all"

Very comfortable and homely, with all of the right ingredients - comfortable beds, lots of logs for the woodburner, very clean and tidy. Situated on the edge of a wooded hillside, the Spinney has won… More

Thanks for your review - really pleased to hear you had a good stay.

Yes, there isn't a pub in Saintbury but the nearest pubs are 1 mile over fields in Willersey. It is a pretty walk if you head out in the day, but as you said, some kind of transport is required in the evenings. We provide taxi numbers for numerous local companies if no-one in the party wants to be the nominated driver!
