From the owner

This lovely grenier annex has been carefully renovated to offer modern and comfortable accommodation. It is ideal for couples and small families; for unwinding and getting away from it all in a part of rural undiscovered France. It is also great for exploring family beaches and surfing on the Atlantic, visiting local market towns, wines tours and tasting, mountains and swimming lakes in Mugron, St Pierre-du-Mont and Orthez. The Grenier is surrounded by large gardens, terracing and private woodland with views over the local countryside. A variety of exotic trees and plants, including plum, peach, walnut, cherry and weeping willows provide welcome shade in the summer. The gardens provide a wonderful space to relax and unwind, stopping to see local wildlife - deer, woodpeckers and butterflies. From the garden entrance, you enter into a long galley kitchen dinner, which is well-equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, vitro-ceramic hob, micro-wave, etc... The staircase with its recently handmade oak handrail takes you to the first floor of the grenier (previously a hay loft as part of the original working Ferme Pyron) with its wooden architectural beams, vaulted ceilings and wooden floors all recently renovated by hand. A further set of French doors opens as a Juliette balcony giving wonderful views of the pine trees, oak woodland and pool just beyond the bean and weeping willow trees. To the right you'll enter a spacious bathroom with large walk-in shower, wooden floors, cupboards and towels rails. Two renovated barn doors lead off the main area to two separate bedrooms: one with a king size bed and the other with two single beds. In the main area itself there is a sofa, two armchairs and a bean bag creating a lounge area ideal for reading, watching TV, etc... We have installed a reversible air conditioning and heating unit, which is great for keeping cool in summer throughout the property and also heating in the cooler months alongside storage heaters. Bearing in mind children's safety, the stair spindles have been installed according to safety regulations. There is also a safety stair gate available if required for younger children. The house benefits from an in-ground 10m x 5m swimming pool fitted with solar heating, so increased pool temperatures of between 20-30° (depending on outside air temperatures and the time of year). The pool is open from mid May to mid September, has a solar shower and is equipped with a safety alarm and gated fencing to keep young children safe around the pool area. A large barn beside the pool provides shade for sitting and games, including table tennis, table football and darts. The pool is used at certain times of the day by the owners of Pyron, a quiet professional couple, who stay in the main house, Maison Pyron. There are no other rentals open on site. The Grenier is well-located for local amenities with local towns of Saint-Sever and Hagetmau only 5-10 minutes drive away. There are plenty of picturesque towns, markets, fêtes and vineyards to be explored as well as numerous sporting and outdoor activities in the area, including an Olympic-sized pool and golf course in Hagetmau and the Pilgrimage route of St Jacques de Compostelle. A Welcome Pack is included (on weekly stays) and access to free wi-fi, books and UK channels via satellite and French TNT channels. The Grenier adjoins the far end of Maison Pyron, a renovated old farmhouse and Maison de Maître built in 1871. The Grenier is an independent, self-contained gite with separate entrances, its own partially fenced garden with table, chairs and plancha. There is parking to the front of the property. We ask for a security deposit of 300€ to cover any damages, keys not returned or if the property is left in a dirty and untidy state. It is recommended that guests take out travel insurance to cover for potential cancellations, accidental damage caused during your stay in the house and any medical treatment. The rate includes linens and towels. It also includes a change of linens and towels if you are staying for 2 weeks. Swimming pool towels can be provided - please ask. Although it's no smoking inside, it's fine to smoke outside the house. Rental times are from 5pm on arrival day until 10am on departure day. The Grenier is also available for longer lets outside the summer months - please contact us for more information, prices etc...
