This is our holiday home that we love spending time in. As such you will find it decorated in a 'homely' fashion and not just for holiday makers. You will find plenty to keep you occupied as there is internet access, dvd player, cd player, Nintendo Wii, UK tv (if needed!) and various board games and books
For the more active there are 3 bikes available for use (2 adult and one childs) and there are also 2 sets of golf clubs that you are welcome to use. The nearest course being just 5kms away on the road to St Lo.
The house is ideal for families or groups who want a nice relaxing break in a comfortable home.

The house comprises of 3 double bedrooms, two of which have double beds and the other has 2 single beds. Downstairs there is also a sofa bed that can accommodate 2. The dining table can seat 6 and there is also a table that seats 4 in the front conservatory which is lovely to sit in during the evening and watch the sun set. The main bathroom has a bath and seperate walk in shower and the toilet is seperate. There is also a toilet in the utility area downstairs.

There is a large garden that surrounds the property and is secure on all sides. In the rear garden there are various fruit trees including apples, pears, figs and cherries. There you will also find an 8 foot trampoline with enclosure and swing.
We have linen and bedding that you are welcome to use.
Please bring your own towels or we can provide towels at a small additional cost to cover the extra our cleaner charges for laundering them.

Saint Sebastien de Raids
Saint Sebastien de Raids is a small village just 5 minutes away from the town of Periers. It is rural but not isolated. There are many places to visit nearby, the nearest beach at Pirou is 15 minutes away, the towns of Carentan, St Lo and Coutances are all about 20 minutes away in different directions. The Bulot Festival (whelks) in Pirou is well worth a visit as are all the events that take place to commemorate the D Day landings. For the more adventurous a day trip to Jersey or Paris can be undertaken.

"Good value large house"
This property is large - larger than the photos suggest. Once you have entered the house through the porch/conservatory there is an entrance hall with the utility room (with toilet and washing machine… More
Thank you for your positive comments about the house and I would love to answer some of the negative points you have raised here despite not mentioning any of them to us since your return.
The house ranges in age between 95 and 195 years old, so occasionally there is a smell of damp but you may also be confused by the chimney in the kitchen that gives off a 'smokey' smell. Would be interested to know what mould patches there are as there were none on the day we arrived in July and none on the day we left, so therefore when you arrived.
The bikes are there for occasional use they are not meant for serious bike riders - we recommend taking or hiring your own if you wish to do serious cycling. The swing and trampoline are perfectly fine so a bit confused by this comment.
The house has been decorated through in the last 12 months and was far from rushed, the paintwork always needs touching up at the end of the year following scuffs and bumps caused by visitors. I assume you are talking about the sofa as being 'tired' - we have it at the house for its comfort - far too many visitors spill items for us to risk having have a new sofa.
Overall I am happy you had a good break in our clean, comfortable and relaxing house.

I am sorry you chose not to contact me during your stay to discuss the issues you have highlighted. As it is a month after your stay there is little i can now do.
However, the wifi/telephone works perfectly well - i am posting this response by being logged on to it and have made several phone calls - i believe the box may just have needed re-booting following a thunderstorm you had. Watching UK tv is an added bonus, even in this part of Northern France obtaining a freeview signal is hit and miss as the satellite providers are narrowing their signal field all the time (though we have enjoyed catching up with some of the Commonwealth Games this week on BBC) - those that offer TV through the sky platform do so illegally in France, and we do not wish to be party to that.
I can only apologise that you found the cutlery had been put away damp by the previous guests - our cleaner will check in the future, but we would expect guests to take some responsibility and make sure that items are put away having dealt with them in the normal manner. With regards the washing machine again i do not understand your issue - it by no means needs cleaning - it is and always has been spotless and we have used it this week on several occasions to wash our clothes.
Thank you for highlighting these points, we do not pretend to offer a 5 star property, but we do offer a clean, comfortable and well appointed property at a reasonable price and I can assure future visitors that the house is and will always remain presented in the best way it possibly can for a house that ranges in age from between 95 and 195 years old.

"A lovely place to stay"
It was a fantastic house with plenty to do for our 3 children ages 8,13 and 15,all facilities were excellent and the information given by the owner was great assistance for us to plan our week. Everything that we needed was within a few miles, visiting the beach for the children to go in the sea and visiting the d day sites were easy to access . Le Mont St Michel was well worth a visit and was only a hour away. The owner was very helpful when arranging the holiday with plenty of advice.

"Deceptively large and comfortable property in secluded setting - ideal for families"
We stayed here for a week during May 2013 and though we were blessed with great weather, we would have easily been able to entertain ourselves in this charming property. We found it particularly spacious and well equipped with everything from kitchen utensils though to children's toys. The property has a large lounge, kitchen, separate play room and has a spacious conservatory to both the rear and front - so no rays of sun are missed! We also found the large garden, comprehensive range of toys / games and available bikes especially appealing for our 5 year old son and would recommend this property especially for anyone with young children.
Although in a quiet, rural location, access to main routes and supermarkets is quick and easy - the nearest supermarket being no more than a five minute drive. It also serves as an excellent base from which to visit the Normandy beaches and the town of Bayeux. Booking and obtaining the keys was very straightforward and our only improvement area would be that the photos on the webiste don't really do the place justice!

"Lovely week at The Old School House"
My wife and I and our daughter, son-in-law and grandsons Edward (3) and Adam (12 months) had a lovely week at The Old School House. It was an easy crossing from Poole Harbour to Cherbourg and then an easy 45 minute drive on good roads to St Sebastien de Raids. Must admit that it took us a bit of time to locate The Old School House, but if you turn left at the village centre the property is then only about 100m on your right. Charming house, full of character and very well equipped and comfortable and spacious. Very clean. Large garden at the rear. Easy trip into pleasant Perier for consumables, with 2 good supermarkets and, of course, several boulangeries. We visited the zoo ( the children loved this) Bayeux Tapestry and Mont St Michel. Within fairly easy driving distance we found some excellent rural restaurants. Thank you for letting us spend a lovely relaxing week at your Normandy home

"A relaxing break in a home away from home"
This is a well equipped, homely gite in a peaceful, charming village. It is a short drive to many interesting places like bayeaux and the D-Day beaches. There are really good restaurants in the local towns of Countances and Carentan. We were particularly charmed by the church bells which rang out musically from the village church.

"Would recommend this lovely holiday home"
Lovely holiday home in idyllic quiet village location which was perfect for our short holiday break. Very spacious, clean and well equipped with a large garden for our children to play in. We visited beaches which are approx a 20 minute drive away and had trips to various impressive towns within close proximity of the property. We particularly enjoyed relaxing evenings in the front conservatory. Would highly recommend this property and will definitely return.

Very enjoyable stay. The property is in a quiet village and is secure for kids to run around. Beaches are around 20 minutes drive away (either side of Cherbourg penisula so depending on weather can pick which side is best). Loads to see and do in the area and plenty to keep the kids and us occupied. Perrier has the nearest local shops which is around a 15 minute cycle ride (circa 3/4 minutes in car). The property was very clean and had everything we needed and expected to have. The rear of the property catches the afternoon and evening sun and is an excellent place to sit out for evening meals and drinks!

"Excellent holiday in superb property"
Very spacious, homely property in lovely quiet location.
Only approx 3 minute drive to local shops and great location for exploring the local area. It offers all you need for a great holiday.
The property is very well equipped in all areas. Useful portfolio available on places to visit which was great to entertain the children, when we were not enjoying the peaceful and secure huge back garden.

"fantastic house idyllic location"
We stayed here for 2 weeks and came back refreshed and revived, plenty to do in the area, and the house was lovely really homely and all you could need for a family holiday.
The children were thrilled with the games, and bikes and we spent many an hour exploring the quiet countryside and had some lovely bbq's and relaxed in the lovely garden.
Particularly enjoyed the 2 conservatories and had a wonderful break.
The log fires were lovely when the weather was chilly, And curled up with a good book and all we could need was provided. wouldnt hestiate to recommend.
The town of carentan which wasnt very far away has good rail links which we used to go to paris for the day and they also had lovely restaurants especially the crepes.
Really looking forward to going back to sample the french wines cheese and lovely weather
