The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Var region
The Var is the second "greenest" department in France and has not been developed to anything like the extent of the neighbouring Alpes-Maritimes. The landscape is visually stunning with mountain ranges, lakes and huge forests.
The French Riviera is one of the most famous resort areas in the world, extending along the Mediterranean Sea west from Menton near the Italian border, including the cities and towns of Monaco, Nice, Antibes, and Cannes. Other sources extend the Côte d'Azur further west to include Saint-Raphaël, Sainte-Maxime, Saint-Tropez, Hyères, Toulon, and Cassis.
The French Riviera benefits from a Mediterranean-type climate, characterised by exceptional sunshine almost 300 days a year and mild temperatures for most of the year.
Saint Raphael area
St Raphael is a traditional Cote d'Azur resort with Art Nouveau elegance. Originally a small fishing village. St Raphael was developed built by Julius Ceasar as a home for retired generals. Today it is a world renowned resort with a great range of activities wonderful climate and beautiful environment. From the Place Napoleon you can take a day boat trip to St Tropez, Cannes and local island groups.
Port Frejus was rebuilt in 1994 as a pleasure port and has numerous opportunities for sailing, boating, diving or just strolling and watching life in the port. The port is quite often host to events such as street theatre or boat jousting!
Just 30 mins away on foot stands the historic Roman town of Frejus with its ancient arena which can easily be reached by car or by bus which stops just a few yards from the apartment. Whilst there you can visit the local vineyard cooperative and purchase the local wines by the bottle or the cheaper option 'en vrac' (straight from the vat into your own container)
Also within 5 mins walking distance lies the Base Nature. Formerly a military airfield used for the development of seaplanes, this area has been developed for leisure. There is a cycle and roller piste, skateboard and stunt bike tracks, ball pitches, equipment hire, areas to walk and stunning beaches with panoramic views. It is the location for many free-of-charge evens such as the 'Festival of Air'
Less than 5 mins by car or 15 mins on foot you can reach the a lively leisure complex which includes an aqua park and amusement park.

Guestbook for Villa Cesaree 402
A perfect spot for exploring Provence and the Cote D'azur. Mrs P.
We thoroughly enjoyed having all amenities, beaches and restaurants a few minutes away. There are also excellent bus and train links for those of us who prefer not to drive. Mr & Mrs Coombs.
We loved the fact that we could have breakfast on the sunny terrace in the morning while in the evening it was a cool haven to relax with a bottle of the local cote de Provence! Anne & Peter Cook.
