The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region
Saint-Raphael is a large seaside town on the French Riviera. Saint Raphael situated beside Frejus is about halfway between Cannes and St. Tropez, in the Var Region of France. During the height of the Roman Empire, San Raphael became popular with wealthy Roman families who visited the resort town.
The extraordinary climate and wide sandy beaches are the main reasons visitors come to St-Raphael. There are both private and public beaches in the town. You may rent beach equipment at stands throughout the beaches. Flags will tell visitors if the beach tide is safe for swimming. A green flag gives the all clear for swimming, and a red flag bars swimming.
Other city landmarks worth visiting include:
Eglise des Templiers at place de la Vieille Eglise, Quartier des Templiers, Saint-Raphael, France; telephone: 04-94-19-25-75. This is a 12th century church and the third to stand on this site. In the courtyard there is a partial Roman aqueduct that brought water from Frejus. There have been several archeological digs on this site and two Carolingian churches are revealed under the current structure. The church is open to the public. There are no Masses as this church is noted more as an archeological monument than religious structure.
Notre-Dame-de-la-Victoire at Boulevard Félix-Martin, Saint-Raphael, France: telephone: 04-94-19-81-29. It was finished in 1887. It's a pretentious tribute to the gilded age of business and trade that helped fund its creation. Entrance to the cathedral is free.
The Museum of Underwater Archaeology at Rue des Templiers, Saint-Raphael, France; telephone: 04-94-19-25-75. It displays Roman artifacts, ships' anchors, ancient diving equipment, and other items from underwater. Years ago, stories spread about a "lost city" off the coast of St-Raphael. After exploring underwater, Jacques Cousteau found a Roman ship that sunk carrying supplies. Admission to the museum is free.
Visitors also must see the flower, produce, cheese, seafood and fruit markets in the old city. Finally, a visit isn't complete without walking the seaside promenade. St-Raphael also offers good restaurants and excellent hotels. An added benefit is the fact that all of the art, charm and vitality of this city comes at a fraction of the cost of other cities on the Riviera. St-Raphael is a jewel among French communities.

"A perfect place to rest and enjoy"
A really nice and pleasant place for vacations, just perfect for a family or a band of friends. Pool is just in front of the kitchen , you can go to the beach by walking ten minutes. The little garden backward is a perfectplace to have a drink, or breakfast, looking the squirrels in the pinetres. A safe and easy parking residence. What can you expect more ???
