From the courtyard you will enter a welcoming hallway, to the left there is a huge open plan living and dining area with an impressive open fireplace. The kitchen is fully fitted with range-style electric cooker with 8 ring gas hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and a small eating area looking out onto the courtyard. There is a WC and a laundry room with washing machine and dryer.

On the right hand side of the ground floor is a king-size bedroom with a traditional inglenook fireplace, built in robes and an en suite shower room.

Upstairs there is a bright and airy landing leading to three spacious bedrooms, a king-size, a double and a twin. The large double aspect family bathroom has a large walk in shower and roll top slipper bath. A cosy lobby area completes the first floor.

Outside there are a number of seating areas including a quiet, shaded area perfect to while away the hours with a good book and a large and sociable patio area for alfresco dining.

The farmhouse is set in 10,000m2 of land including its own orchard which is bursting with mature fruit trees including a number of cherry, apple, pear, plum, peach and fig trees, grape vines, red currant bushes, black berries, wild artichokes, chestnuts and wild strawberries. Our visitors are very welcome to enjoy the fruits of the land. There are many kinds of birds and butterflies and also watch out for our family of frogs, lots of little lizards and a family of beavers who live on the river bank at the bottom of the lane.

The Limousin/Auvergne region

The farmhouse is situated in Haute Vienne a region of the Limousin department in South West France.The lakes and mountains, valleys and forests, interspersed with crashing rivers and tiny lost villages all combine to give the Limousin its own very distinctive personality.

Saint Priest Ligoure

The farmhouse is a 15 minute walk from the village of Saint-Priest-Ligoure which has a friendly café selling local specialities, fresh bread and other day to day essentials. The beautiful town of Pierre Buffiere is five/ten minutes drive east and has a bakers, butchers, supermarket, restaurants, tabac, bank, post office, pharmacy, doctors and access to the A20 motorway.

Nexon is ten minutes drive to the west of the farmhouse and is well worth a visit as is Saint-Hilaire-les-Places, both boast wonderful chateaux and leisure lakes. Nexon also has a large supermarket. Twenty minutes south of the farmhouse is the town of Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche. The town is rich in heritage and culture clusters around a core of old buildings dominated by the collegiate church. It hosts several markets with stalls full of local speciality produce and crafts, as well as an array of fine shops, bars and restaurants. There is also an aqua sport complex which offers a great day out when the swimming lake is just that little too cold. There are many places only a short drive away such as the major medieval site in the Limousin of Châlucet. For some shopping or a bit of the city life, Limoges is only a 20-minute drive north. This ancient roman cathedral city, which is famous for its porcelain, offers plenty of activities including several historical sites, an excellent fresh produce market and lots of squares and cobbled streets to discover. It also boasts lots of excellent shops, bars and restaurants.

"Fantastic, relaxing stay in a very luxurious farmhouse"

We had a lovely weeks stay in this fully equipped farmhouse, the hardest decision we had to make was which of the fabulous bedrooms we wanted to sleep in. The weather was wonderful, location beautiful, walking was a delight. There's a gorgeous little café/bistro in Saint Jean Ligoure which serves delicious sandwiches, a perfect lunch stop in the middle of a long walk. We will definitely be visiting again.
