Domaine de Cournet-Haut, which was once a 17th century hunting lodge, is today home to a peaceful and beautifully restored holiday residence. Set on 13 acres of gardens, lawns and bright mature forest, it provides the space and serenity for great family holidays and relaxing country breaks. There are a total of 8 houses to rent on the domain, but with a maximum capacity of 39 and the houses well spread apart, you will still enjoy the tranquility of your surroundings. Domaine de Cournet-Haut has been family run for 35 years and we are always onsite to give recommendations and to make your visit to our area as enjoyable as possible.

“Le Châtaigner” (The Chestnut Tree), which was completely renovated in 2012, is the closest woodland house to the pool and gardens. Situated at the edge of the mature forest, it offers the best of both worlds: the coolness of the trees in the summer and a view of the pool and lawns overlooking the valley.

The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

“The Dordogne département is for many people the picture-perfect image of the French countryside, a gentle landscape of patchwork fields, hilltop towns, turreted mansions and jade-green woods. Named after the most important of the region’s seven rivers, the Dordogne is better-known to the French as Périgord, spiritual home to two of the country’s enduring culinary passions – foie gras and the black truffle. The Dordogne is famous for its stunning cave paintings, as well as for its many fortified chateaux and bastide towns – reminders of the bloody battles waged here during the Middle Ages and the Hundred Years’ War.” – Lonely Planet Guide

Many thanks to the wonderful hosting family! To Emmanuel, Helen, and your lovely daughter and your son-in-law!
The location is very beautiful, the unit was very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay, and looking forward to return with our kids.

"Simply brilliant - the location, the amenities, the welcome."

We enjoyed a great autumnal short-break at Cournet-Haut.

Alan & Fanny couldn't have been more welcoming. The complimentary bottle of Bergerac in front of the wood burning stove in our cosy chalet was wonderful.

The chalet was fully equipped and perfectly clean.

We used the floodlit tennis court every evening and borrowed from their wide library of DVDs.

We didn't have time to use the table tennis or swimming pool. Maybe next time!

There is so much to explore in the immediate area, whether on foot, car or by bike (which can also be borrowed on-site).

There is a boulangerie, supermarket & restaurant an easy stroll away.

Further afield you have the stunning towns of Sarlat, Belves and a host of some of the most beautiful villages in France.

It was a great base in which to explore the Perigord Noir and we will be back.
