About the home

2-bedroom flat in a traditional Norman barn renovated to highest standards, offering a peaceful, comfortable and beautiful setting, great for families or couples. Well equipped kitchen. Excellent location for visiting the D-Day sites, Bayeux, Le Mont Saint Michel, or for enjoying the nearby beaches, fishing villages, and the Norman countryside. We are at 800 meters from cliffs overlooking the English Channel, within walking distance of the Pointe du Hoc. Restaurants and commerce at 10 km. Proprietor across the green courtyard for helpful advice, rejuvenating glasses of cider.

The Normandy / Calvados region

Our house, Le Vermont, is in Saint Pierre du Mont in Lower Normandy. We're located on the English Channel; our climate is Continental and, thanks to the Gulf Stream, mild.

Our region is well known for its historic sites (WWII landing beaches, Bayeux Tapestry & Cathedral, Caen with its castle and abbeys) as well as for its regional specialties such as cheeses, cream and butter, cider, seafood and different sausages, which, for increased pleasure, can be bought in traditional outdoor markets or fresh off the boat.

The Saint Pierre du Mont area

Saint Pierre itself is located on the coast, within walking distance of the Pointe du Hoc. If you are a birder, bring your binoculars because there's an ornithological reserve nearby. The Saint Pierre church dates from the 12th-14th century and is well worth a visit.

Our corner of Normandy offers some great sandy beaches, lovely country roads for rambling or cycling, and views of traditional Norman mansions, some of which are open to the public.

We're also an easy autoroute drive to the Mont Saint Michel or to Monet's home in Giverny.

“Good value for money” This cottage was really nice.it actually exceeded our expectations.the landlady was absolutely fantastic.took the time to show us around and even invited us over for a meal.the cottage it self was spotless,location spot on and I will definately recommend this cottage.we will certainly be visiting again.

“Beautiful cottage in peaceful surroundings” We loved the house and the renovation. Owner and son delightful and helpful, enjoyed our aperitifs! The gardens are pretty. Very peaceful location, but all amenities nearby. Visited Mont St Michel and would strongly recommend it. The American Cemeteries are well worth visiting and beaches too. Bayeux Cathedral and the Tapestry are absolute musts to visit. Try Pizzeria Fred'au for huge pizzas. We had 2 teenage girls with us who were entertained by their laptops via the wifi.

“Excellent Stay” We stayed one night in the flat. There are 2 bedrooms, one on ground floor and one in fist floor, each with independant bathroom, in a separate antic traditonal stone house, totally renovated by the owners. The flat is provided with an equiped kitchen for longer stays if required. The owners (french husband with his lovely and american wife) are extremely friendly, share their passion for this beatiful location and its history. The garden tour is a must, between trees, ducks, etc... Free wifi provided. We definitevely appreciated the stay and recommand this address.
