Le Champlain is a new apartment in a renovated Norman barn on our property, located a few minutes from the Pointe du Hoc and Omaha Beach, and an easy drive to Bayeux, Saint Mere Eglise, Caen, and the Mont Saint Michel. Le Champlain provides an excellent location for visiting the landing beaches and other sites in Normandy, and a great home away from home to rest and relax in, in the calm of the Norman countryside.

The apartment combines modern comfort with a traditional feel, set as it is in a beautiful 16th century renovated stone barn, surrounded by flowers, fields, and orchard. The terrace gives on to the ground floor where there's an open kitchen, a cosy living room, and a bedroom with en-suite bath, wheelchair accessible. Upstairs there are two spacious wood-floor bedrooms (three beds) with views of the lawns, orchard, and neighbouring fields, and another bath & WC. The terrace is great for a barbecue or sun-bathing, and there are green spaces for the kids to play.

Parking is handy to the apartment, and safe.

Le Champlain is perfect for families or friends, with enough space to accommodate 6-7 people comfortably.

The Basse-Normandie region

Le Vermont is in Saint Pierre du Mont in Normandy. We're located on the English Channel; our climate is Continental and, thanks to the Gulf Stream, mild year round.

Our region is well known for its historic sites (WWII landing beaches, Bayeux's Tapestry & Cathedral, Caen with its castle and abbeys) and its regional specialties such as cheeses, cream and butter, cider, pommeau, and Calvados, fish and seafood, and different types sausages, which can be bought in traditional outdoor markets or fresh off the boat, as well as in local commerce.

Normandy is a wonderful place, with a wealth of sites to visit, an excellent cuisine to sample, and a beautiful and calm countryside and seacoast to enjoy.

We are happy to advise you on visiting, eating, and drinking!

Saint Pierre du Mont

Saint Pierre itself is an agricultural village located on the sea coast, within walking distance of the Pointe du Hoc. If you are a birder, bring your binoculars because there's an ornithological reserve nearby. The Saint Pierre church dates from the 12th-14th century and is well worth a visit.

Our corner of Normandy offers some great sandy beaches, lovely country roads for rambling or cycling, and views of traditional Norman mansions, some of which are open to the public.

Just down the road is the little fishing village of Grandcamp-Maisy, which offers a good selection of restaurants on its seafront, a fish market, and a sailing school, as well as other commerce, including 2 bakeries and a butcher shop.

We're also an easy autoroute drive to the Mont Saint Michel or to Monet's home in Giverny.
