Home description
A fabulous self-catering Chateau de Baloine, in the popular Ardeche region of France, available for hire between June and September. This is a house not for those looking for sleek luxury, but for those who love comfort with character. It is also for history-lovers, as all the wooden-shuttered windows overlook the ruins of a medieval castle. The Chateau de Baloine, and indeed the whole site, is protected by the state as a Historic Monument which you can enjoy combined with 21st century touches. There are six bedrooms, all with views of the ruins. Five are double rooms. Some of these have king size beds and three of them are en suite. Another shares a bathroom and shower with the sixth bedroom which has four beds. One of the doubles has a living room and is on the upper ground floor (ideal for the elderly), and another is on the lower ground floor with its own private shower. The Chateau de Baloine has five bathrooms, all simply but perfectly comfortably decorated. Communal reception rooms include a dining room with vaulted ceilings on the lower ground floor, a large kitchen, a dining terrace (ideal for breakfast and dinner), a living room with an open fire and a library. There's also an upper covered terrace, perfect for lunch, siestas and aperitifs! The outside pool is an added luxury for all guests to enjoy. The Chateau de Baloine is great value and quite an experience.

The Rhone / French Alps / Ardeche region
There are a large number of locations to visit within the area, including many churches, castles and villages in the vicinity of the Chateau. Les Gorges de L’Ardeche filled with beautiful lavender fields and many attractions great for families, which is only a 50 drive from the Chateau. There are many other local tourists spots such as the art caves (Chauvet Cave) and believe it or not a crocodile farm only an hour away!
Saint Michel de Boulogne area
There are a number activities which revolve around the Ardeche River two of the most popular swimming and canoeing (try to book in advance to avoid disappointment).
For the climbers among you there is a climbing spot only a ten minute walk from the Chateau, it is also possible to hire bicycles and play tennis locally.
A favourite are the many vineyards in the area, there are a good selection of local wines and the vineries are open to those who would like to try the wine, please ask for more information upon arrival.
There are a number of restaurants close to the Château if you do not feel like cooking; there are a number of guide books at the Chateau advising you on the best restaurants.
A number of festivals and events take place during the summer months ranging from jazz festivals to small village feasts. The local Office de Tourisme will be able to provide you with full information on all of the events that are going on during your stay. If you are happy to travel further away there are also festivals in Avignon, Aix and Orange to name a few.

Further details indoors: The décor of the Chateau has a traditional rural feel with a touch of Spanish. The combination of the dark wooden furniture and the wide variety of furniture and lamps create and excellent ambiance. There are a number of outdoor areas where you can sit, sunbath and relax and really soak in the atmosphere a mere few feet away from the beautiful ruins of the Chateau.
The entertaining space includes a dining room with high ceilings situated on the lower ground floor, a large kitchen, a further dining area on the terrace, a reception room with a fantastic open fireplace and a beautiful and well equipped Library. In addition there is a covered terrace, and ideal place for long summer lunches and early evening aperitifs.
All six bedrooms have views over the ruins, five of which are doubles, three en suite. Two rooms share a bathroom and there is a shower room for the remaining bedroom which sleeps four people. The house has five bathrooms in total and is simply yet comfortably decorated.
All of the bedrooms are located in the Renaissance Pavillion they consist of the following;
The Great room: A Double bed, A living room, and a private bathroom. Room 1: A Double bed and a private bathroom. Room 2: A Double bed and a private bathroom. Room 3: A King size bed, a bath and shower room shared with Room 4. Room 4: There are four beds (1 extra possible), and a bath and shower room shared with Room 3. Low Ground Floor: A king size bed and a private shower room.

Conditions
Security deposit: €1500. This is paid on arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection. Linen & towels: All linen and towels are included in the rental price. Energy costs: Included in the rental price. End of stay cleaning: Included in the rental price. Arrival time: 4.00pm onwards. Departure time: 10.00am. Pets: Pets not allowed. Smoking: No smoking in the property. It is recommended that all guests take out insurance to cover against potential cancellation and any accidental damage caused during your stay at the property.
