The Rhône-Alpes region
The Ardeche is well known for being a hugely popular area with French and Dutch holidaymakers, yet remains a well guarded secret from British travelers. The summer climate is fantastic with plenty sunshine and little rain throughout June, July and August. Though there can be some hugely impressive thunderstorms that rattle round the surrounding hills. There are various summer festivals in the Ardeche and always plenty to see and do. From the Luna festival at Ruoms to the world renowned Grotte Aven D'Orgnac.
Saint Michel de Boulogne
The hills around Gite Alba provide some fantastic summer walking, with many kilometres of paths to follow, or indeed hills to climb. The majority of the paths are clearly marked and often follow circuits so that you can do a complete tour without having to double back on yourself. Aubenas and Privas both are towns of around 8-10,000 inhabitants with theatres, markets and various activities taking place throughout the summer months.
