About the home
Archirondel Tower is a perfect short stay property for those wishing to explore Jersey's eastern tip, it is close to St Catherine's woods, St Catherine's breakwater and the impressive Mont Orgueil castle. Safe swimming, smooth pebbles for decorating sand castles, rocks to scramble on and smooth sands nearer the sea make Archirondel beach a popular place with families.
The Tower is painted red and white so it can be used as navigational point by vessels at sea. Rarely crowded, with an excellent cafe on the edge of the beach Archirondel is also a great place to launch a canoe or kayak because of the sheltered nature of the beach.
Archirondel Tower was built on a rocky outcrop in St Catherine's Bay in 1792 and was used as a garrison for artillery soldiers, it is now linked to the shore by the abandoned southern arm of St Catherine's breakwater. It has very limited facilities set over three levels, the table and benches, fridge and kettle are located on the 1st, exterior metal steps lead to the 2nd where there are 4 beds, the remaining three beds are accessed via the 2nd floor up a wooden ladder. There is absolutely no roof access.
At Jersey Heritage, we bring to life the rich history and culture of our beautiful island. By hiring a Jersey Heritage holiday let you can become a part of the Island's history, sharing in and enjoying the iconic backdrops taht have shared our way of life.
