The Jersey region

The Jersey region

Jersey is 9 x 5 miles with over 450 miles of roadway (comprising a mix of roads and small lanes) as well as a network of over 46 miles of green lanes with a speed limit of 15mph (24kph) where priority is given to walkers, cyclists and horse riders.

The island is well known for its truly magnificent sandy beaches, sheltered coves and crystal clear waters. Inland, winding lanes take you through delightful countryside.Warmed by the waters of the Gulf Stream, Spring arrives early and Summer lingers on. The weather here consistently tops the UK resort charts for sunshine hours and temperature. Jersey is the most southerly of the Channel Islands and summer temperatures average 20C.

Some of Jersey's popular events include the Battle Of Flowers (Second week of August), world famous music festival Jersey Live (first weekend of September), International Air Display (Second week of September) as well as many other local festivals and fetes throughout the year.

Saint Martin

St Martin is a parish in the east of Jersey, known for its traditional farm architecture. Rich in history, featuring the rock called Le Saut Geffroy, or Geoffroy's Leap (National Trust for Jersey) and Le Couperon and Faldouet, which are prehistoric dolmens. You should not miss visiting Mont Orgueil castle during your stay at St Martin.

St Catherine in St Martin includes Breakwater, which is a sheltering arm for moored vessels. Rozel's harbour is one of the Island's most beautiful harbours, and between St Catherine and Rozel there are three small coves, namely Fliquet, La Coupe and Saie Harbour.

Rozel is a small fishing port at the north east of the Island, cafés, bars and restaurants abound on the quayside and within a short walk. This is the gourmet's beach.

Bus Route 3 provides an excellent year-round service.
