We offer a very spacious four bedroomed house to rent with heated private swimming pool (solar system) in the beautiful Vendee region of France. Situated in private grounds of three acres, this one-level house of 220 square metres can accommodate up to 10 persons. It is ideal for two families travelling together; groups of golfers/walkers, or just one family who enjoys lots of living space. Surrounded on all sides by open fields, a calm and restful holiday is assured.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region
'La Vendee' .... known for warm sun and long golden sandy beaches.....
Also known as the 'light coast', the Vendee region benefits from its own microclimate enjoying around 2,500 hours of sunshine per year, rivalling even the Côte d'Azur. This compares with only 1,300 hours for Manchester and 1490 hours for London.
The 'marais' (or marshland) regions of the Vendee are vast, flat expanses of land that have been reclaimed from the sea and offer a setting that is at the same time both rural and maritime ... the peace and quiet of the countryside whilst still being in close proximity to the beaches. Nature lovers don't forget to bring your binoculars and walking shoes as the animal, bird and plant life around this area will provide you with some amazing sights.
The Vendee coastline itself stretches over 140 kilometres and the beaches are made of fine golden sand. There are many beaches in the area to visit, each with its own particular character. Saint Jean de Monts is a typical 'marais' town, separated from the sea by preserved pine forests. It is one of the main seaside resorts of the coast, with a superb beach three kilometres long.

In and around Saint Jean de Monts/ La Barre de Monts, there are a multitude of things to do.
On the beach in Saint Jean de Monts is a 'kiddies club', with trampolines and bouncy castles; there is also a specially constructed swimming pool on the beach, for any little ones requiring lessons! Cycling and roller skating paths stretch from one end of the beachfront to the other. Older children will enjoy the 'tree adventure park', set in the pine forests, where (attached with a harness) they can swing from tree to tree using a rope and pulley system. Or, how about horse-riding on the beach in the mornings when all is quiet? Or maybe a family cycling trip through the pine forests with a picnic lunch? And what about a day trip canoeing through the salt marshes followed by a barbecue in the shade of a magnificent working windmill? The choices of activies seem endless.
For those not looking for quite so much activity, there are 'quieter' beaches in the area. The beach at La Barre de Monts/Fromentine is set in the dunes and has a very natural feel - free of all 'tourist trappings'. Organized sand yachting is available here. This is also the place to catch the ferry to L'Isle d'Yeu - a small island off the Vendee coast surrounded by beaches and coves. The best way to visit the island is by hiring bicycles on arrival from one of the many bike hire stands.
Saint Jean de Monts is also home to a popular and well maintained 18 hole golf course, set between the beach and the forest. It has its own club house and restaurant and is neighbour to the Thalasso spa, known for its large indoor sea-water swimming pool and sea-water based treatments - a wonderfully pampering treat!
How to get there
We are just a 2 and a half hour drive from the ferry port of Saint Malo and a 45 minutes drive from Nantes Atlantique airport. Ryanair fly direct to Nantes from various departure points throughout the UK and Ireland. At Nantes airport you will find all the major car rental companies - Avis, Europcar, Hertz and National among others.

Further details indoors: The private, solar heated pool is enclosed and paved and measures 11m x 4m. Water depth ranges from 1m at the shallowest end to 2m at the deepest end. Sun loungers are available around the pool.
Located in the 'marais'/farmland area just on the edge of Saint Jean de Monts, lots of quiet roads for cycling or walking. A ten minute drive will bring you to the Atlantic Coast and the resort town of Saint Jean de Monts, known for its golden sandy beaches, superb golf course and night life. The island of Noirmoutier is just a 20 minutes drive away, where you will find a large water park, Sealand park, and a variety of seafood restaurants
The house itself comprises:

° Dining Room with fireplace and large farmhouse-style table with bench seating for 10 persons
° Kitchen (open to dining room). Hob with four gas burners, extractor fan, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave, electric kettle, coffee maker, toaster
° Utility room with washing machine, iron and ironing board
° Four large bedrooms: All have built-in cupboards/wardrobes providing ample storage space

All beds will be made-up for your arrival with all-cotton bed linens. Duvets, duvet covers, pillows, one bath towel per person and four tea towels are also included in the rental cost.
Further details outdoors: Outdoors there is a patio area with a stone barbecue and outdoor dining furniture (for ten persons). The private solar heated pool is walled and fenced off for security. Double glass doors from the house open onto the pool terrace and are fitted with an additional security lock. The pool itself is fitted with a pool alarm and night lighting. Sun loungers and chairs are provided around the pool. There is a large field to the rear of the house, ideal for ball games and a small orchard of plum, pear and apple trees offering shade from the sun.

La Saulaie is available for the months of June, July, August and September 2009. Bookings run from Saturday (16h00) to Saturday (10h00). Minimum stay 7 nights, except Saturday July 18 - Saturday, August 29 minimum 14 nights stay

Conditions
Smoking is not permitted inside the home Refundable deposit of £200 required with the balance of payment for your holiday. This sum will be returned to you by cheque within ten days of your departure so long as there is no damage caused to the home and the home is left in a clean condition..
A deposit of 30% is required to reserve the home, with the balance payable four weeks prior to your arrival date.
A 'welcome package' consisting of wine, fresh milk and fruit juice will be placed in the home for your arrival. Other shopping may be arranged upon request.
