Villa EDA is a large, newly built villa with its own private, heatable pool. The villa has 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and a toilet and a shower-room. The kitchen area is very well equipped with a dishwasher and washing machine, 4 electric rings, oven, fridge freezer, sink and crockery and cutlery for 6 persons. The very spacious lounge has a dining table and 6 chairs, a sideboard, sofa, and armchairs, coffee table, with french windows overlooking the pool area. There are 6 garden chairs and table for the tiled terrace area by the pool. Barbecues are not provided but they are allowed if you would like to bring your own. The villa has a selection of double and single beds, wardrobe, bedside table and lamp, bedspread, and pillows. The large garden area is fenced in and there is a garage for 1 car, and ample parking by the villa. The villa is set in the gated Domaine select development of semi detached and detached villas with private heated pools near the forest and beach only 3.6 km away in St Jean de Monts. The excellent internationnaly renowned golf course is just a short drive away and we can offer you a reduction. St Jean de Monts is a famous seaside resort on the Vendee coast, with its fine sandy beach over 8km long reknowned as one of the best in France. The villa is one of a selection of villas of the same type. They are all furnished to the owners taste and can differ from the description above. The gardens are grass, sand, decking or nice gravel.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region
The climate is wonderful with over 200 days of sunshine and over 2,500 hours of sun. Even from early spring and late autumn the weather is very mild and has warm breezes. The highest temperature registered in St Jean de Monts was in 2003 but that was a record year but don't worry - normally it's more around the middle 20's! Many areas of the Vendee have a lovely micro climate as they are protected by the the offshore islands.
The Vendee lies between the Côte d'Argent and Brittany but with a character all of its own. The Atlantic Coast stretches 140 km, full of fine white sandy beaches with an amazing 210 days sunshine per year, a record rivalling that of the south of France. The Vendée coast is renowned for its luminosity and is called locally "LA COTE DE LA LUMIERE"... The Vendée is rich with many museums, castles and heritage centres to visit.
It is a land of naturally preserved space with a variety of pleasures such as sandsurfing, horse riding, golfing, watersports and Spa Thalassotherapy centres offering revitalising salt water cures. The Vendée is reclaimed land and therefore flat and riddled with creeks, vast beaches and sand dunes inviting you to relax. In the dusk, fine pleasure ports transform into lively, welcoming stopovers with a variety of museums, gardens, festivals, folklore pageants and magnificent evening shows.
The region is covered with working salt marshes, oyster beds, potato fields, vineyards and provides a wealth of seafood. The Vendée offers colourful beauty and a variety of countryside from farmlands to the local marshes and Marais Poitevin Marshes, from forests, the sea and villages with their colourful markets selling the local speciality "Brioche Vendéene" (a type of bread with a sweet taste). One can relive the past by visiting cloisters, abbeys, inhabited Châteaux and the picturesque surroundings encompassed by magnificent windmills. You couldn't have a better setting for seaside fun, plenty of space on the gently sloping beaches where you can cool off, or picnic in the fragrant pine woods which sweep down to the sand dunes.
Saint Jean de Monts area
St Jean de Monts is a famous seaside resort on the Vendee coast, with its fine sandy beach over 8km long reknown as one of the best in France. During the summer season St Jean has all the modern sides of a bustling beach town, including an excellent 18 hole golf course, spa resort, sailing centre and horseriding centres. Come the evening, wander along the beach esplanade and the lively avenue de la Mer, the pedestrian road leading to the beach and the Casino! Cultural and sporting activites are held all summer long from a kids festival, international kite festivals, an important Triathlon, and many art exhibitions in the Palais des Congres.

Saturday Shuttle from Nantes Airport to St Jean de Monts. If you fly on a Saturday, between 17 May and 6 September, a pre-bookable shuttle service can take you to your villa and collect you on the return. Cost 32€ return per adult and 16€ return per child (under 12). Contact us for details.
How to get there
Fly to Nantes (75k from Villa Ruby). Ryanair flights from East Midlands and Stansted. Fly to La Rochelle (163k from villa Ruby) . Ryanair flights from Stansted. All the main car hire companies are represented at Nantes airport. Alternatively, new for 2008, between 17 May and 6 September, a shuttle service will run between Nantes airport and properties in St Jean de Monts on Saturdays. This must be booked and paid for in advance. Please ask us for details. Ferry crossings to St Malo, Caen, Roscoff, Cherbourg and Calais.

Further details outdoors: There is a private heatable pool of approx 8 x 4 metres. Pool water treatment is often by salt-electrolysis system. The pools have the appropriate legal safety requirements. The price is NOT inclusive of electricity nor water and is therefore payable as an extra, by meter reading.

Sometimes animals are allowed, please email details of your pet. The reception is on site with sheets and towels, cot and high chair for hire, and extra maid cleaning services too. Additional services available from the domaine's reception that may be booked here: cot costs 29 Euros per week and high chair costs 15 euros per week ; sheets and towels : just sheets cost 8 euros , or just towels which includes 1 bath and 1 hand towel costs 6 euros; television (satelite) 35 euros per week (please note there are not many british channels). Final cleaning service is extra : 96-192 euros. Cleaning charges will be debited from your card after your departure : 27 euros per hour spent by the cleaning staff. Taxe de sejour is 0.44 euros per person per day. Electricty and water are extra and charged according to meter reading. Arrival days are from Saturday 16h/4pm to Saturday 10h/10am.
CLEANING AND SECURITY DEPOSIT : you are required to pay a deposit of 750 euros on arrival (normally by credit card) to guarantee against any possible damages to the house and its contents caused during your stay, as well as any cleaning costs, water and electricity costs and telephone charges (if there is a telephone in the property). This security and cleaning deposit will be returned only if the accommodation is left clean subject to normal rules.
You are politely reminded to leave the house in a clean condition. It will be checked on your departure and your deposit will be refunded minus any breakages. You may well want to take advantage of the Final cleaning service which is payable as an extra depending on house size.
You must agree a departure check out time - if you need to leave very early you must arrange what you will do with the key.

We had a fantastic holiday at our Domaine Ruby villa in St Jean de Monts, everything was perfect from the villa, clean, lots of space, comfortable beds, to the pool which was great (but i must get it heated next year !), to your truly professional & efficient service, and the hamper was good too !
