Villa in St Genis
£750–£800 / week
About the home
Our villa is situated in the peaceful village of St Genis des Fontaines in the foothills of the 'Alberes', which are the eastern end of the Pyrenees where they run down to the Mediterranean. The villa is comfortably furnished and equipped for 6 people with garden on three sides, which gives an extensive choice of views, sun and shade.
All of the villages along the Alberes have recently benefited from a by-pass between Argeles-sur-Mer and Le Boulou which has removed most through traffic and has improved their traditional style. Being back from the coast, they have a largely resident population and are not overrun with tourists although all the tourist facilities are available within a short distance.

Further details indoors:
The villa is quite spacious with three good size bedrooms, a large living/dining room, a kitchen and an utility room. (Total 91 square mts) The bedrooms have bedside tables and wardrobes. There is a beautiful modern bathroom with WC, shower, wash basin, towel rail and cupboard. There is also a separate WC as well.
The kitchen is supplied with a substantial amount of plates, crockery, glasses (drinking, wine and champagne) cutlery, a large range of cooking knives and utensils and a large selection of cooking pans, saucepans and casseroles.
Further details outdoors:
The villa has terraces front and back. The back terrace has eating facilities on a teak table shaded by palm trees. The front terrace also has eating facilities with a table with a large umbrella plus a seating area as well. The garden is largely laid with tiled patios and walkways, gravel inlays and surrounded by ornamental trees and shrubs including an olive tree, two young orange trees and hedges of oleanders and cyprus. The front drive is tiled and will take two small cars or one larger one, and is gated for security. Parking outside is also available and is not a problem as the villa is situated in a cul-de-sac.
Further details
The property is on one level with one step up from the patio, so is accessible to anyone who can cope with one step. The garden is safe for children as it is fenced on all sides, but as it is mostly tiled patio and gravel, it is not very 'child friendly' for robust games. There is an outside airer for drying clothes.
There are a number of leisure seats, recliners etc for garden use which along with the two outside tables and a garden bench, provide more than adequate seating in the open air.
As the property is in a residential area, we do ask you to respect our neighbours rights to quiet and avoid loud noise or music outside after 11.00 at night.
The Languedoc-Roussillon / Pyrenees-Orientales region

Pyrenees-Orientales is the most dramatic French region abutting the Western Mediterranean. The mediterranean coast starts at the Spanish border with many intimate little beaches between the tongues of the Alberes as they descend into the sea. Collioure is a 'chocolate box' pretty seaside resort surrounded by hills with a very old quaint village on the edge of the sea. From Argeles northwards, the beach is very wide, flat golden sand which appears to go on for ever. Away from the coast there are the valleys back into the mountains which rise to nearly 10,000 ft within 25 miles, some surmounted by Cathar castles. The whole region is famous for its wine and fruit, cherries, apricots, almonds, and its anchovies. What more can you want?
The Saint Genis des Fontaines area
St Genis des Fontaines is an unspoilt traditional village with a largely resident population. There is a well stocked small supermarket in the village along with two bakers, butcher, fruiterer, chemist and other shops. There are three restaurants and a pizza shop. There are three bars and two wine producers. All the local villages are similarly supplied and Argeles (9 km. away) has everything you could wish for in a small town. There are numerous fresh fruit and vegetable vendors around the area, regular markets in many of the villages, and more wine producers than you could visit if you spent all your time doing so!
And that is all before you venture over the border into Spain (20 km) and start the whole process again!
