The luxury property "La Pignarderie" lies near the pretty village of Belvès de Castillon amongst the vineyard of "Côtes de Castillon", only 10 minutes away from the mediaevel site of Saint Emilion. This property, XVIII- XIX century, is divided in two "Girondine" houses or" Maison de Maître" :the main Girondine and the guest Girondine. These typical wine-grower houses,very sophisticated, have been tastefully restored by French decorators with a very high quality of prestations, in a XVIII eme Century historic french style decoration, professional choices for quality fabrics. La Pignarderie offer you comfortable holiday with the wonderful swimming pool with a security closing perfect for the children , his solarium and around this: the panoramic views over the vines to the Dordogne valley and the Périgord. There is an agreeable garden all around the houses with trees,a terrace to eat , BBQ and parking.
Local facilities are under 2 minutes drive away: village bar, supermarket , restaurant with wine cellar.Saint Emilion is under 10 minutes away with lots of restaurants, street Cafés and wine shops, with weekly fabulous open market.
This is a wonderful location for wine tasting, with the most prestigious CHATEAUX like Château Ausone or Château Cheval Blanc under 10 minutes from the property! The theme is pleasure with good wine and painting.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Gironde region
The region rooted since Roman age, the wine of the Castillon’s region hasn’t stopped standing out and growing with the age. Till 1921 its wines were known under the denominator “Saint-Emilionnais” or “Near Saint-Emilion”. It’s in 1931 that will be utilized for the first time “Côtes de Castillon”.
It’s here that Pierre Loti, Michel de Montaigne, Edmond Rostand drawing the inspiration from the more beautiful page.It’s here that took in 1453 in the Colly plain the battle wich ended the battle of one hundred age and determined the linking up of the Aquitaine to French Crown.
Wonderful abrupt slopes prevailing the Dordogne river, facing the western, raised to one hundred heght. They offer to the wineyard ideal conditions of exposition and exposure.
The region is also famous for its gastronomie: truffes- foie gras and its mild climate
Saint Emilion / Belves de Castillon area

We can propose to you day trip to discover the wine, the viticulture. Those prestations are realised by a confirm oenological man about: 1/Wine tasting initiation 2/Wine tasting training 3/Oenological, gastronomic and cultural tourism. Transfer by car is possible by the proprietor for short trip.
The "Classical Music and wine in the "châteaux concerts" takes place from March to December around Saint Emilion.For more information, do note hesitate to ask me the program.
We can make reservation for you to rent bicycles -VTT -VTC for one day or more. You have also: Tennis - Equitation - Cruising and canoëing down the Dordogne - Wine tasting in the prestigious Châteaux - Visiting Touristic site like Mediaeval site of Saint Emilion .
Chateau Vigiers Golf – Championship golf course with daily green fees available. Combined with superb Brasserie and Restaurant with outdoor swimming pool - great for the kids.
Ste-Foy-La-Grande – beautiful 13th century bastide town 5 minutes away and with all amenities required for your stay (supermarkets, restaurants, cinema, tourist office, post office, and shopping). Has fantastic weekly market.
Canoe Rental – Available at both Pessac-sur-Dordogne and Ste-Foy-la-Grande both with 15 minutes.
Tennis - there is tennis available in Saint Emilion, 10 euros for 1 hour.
Markets - There are many fabulous markets in the surrounding towns and villages - lots of vide greniers (literally 'empty attic' sales), night time markets and farmers markets where the local farmers sell their produce and you can then sit down and eat it on the spot and enjoy the atmosphere. Just perfect!
Horse Riding – Hacks and riding lessons available within 3 minutes drive.
Beaches/lakes - there are several man-made swimming lakes with beaches in the vicinity. The majority have sandy beaches, children's play areas, pedaloes, restaurants, fishing and one even has horse riding. A great cheap day out

HELLO FAMILY TKS FOR OUR vACATION IN YOUR HOUSE WE STAY WONDERFULL. Gladys-
Wow! What a find, a delightful Gite in a lovely, quiet, hill top location with spectacular views. The gite is quaint and each room is sophisticatedly designed with beautifully dressed windows and fabulous murals on the wall and yet the owners manage to make it feel homely and child friendly. We took advantage of the area for some enjoyable walks; the gite is ideally situated for St Emilion which did tempt us to visit the vineyards more than we should have, much to the dismay of our three children who just wanted to spend time in the gites' wonderful pool. Olivier and Anne-Laure made us feel very welcome and were a great source of local knowledge and we can not thank them enough for many wonderful memories. -- Louise.
