The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Gironde region
Aquitaine or Gironde is a fascinating and unspoilt region of France. Moulin de Rioupassat is in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers Bordeaux wine region and vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see. One could spend an entire two week holiday exploring chateaux and wine tasting – there are 12000 chateaux in the Bordeaux region! The area is outstanding in other ways. The coastline is magnificent and Le Bassin d’Arcachon is just over an hour from Rauzan. If you are energetic enough to climb the Dune de Pyla (the highest sand dune in Europe) you will enjoy stunning views of the bay and Cap Ferret peninsula. As well as safe and sheltered beaches, the coastline here supports a thriving oyster and fishing industry. There are many great restaurants at Arcachon and Cap Ferret. Bordeaux itself is an interesting city with good shops, museums, cinemas and of course restaurants. Closer to home, medieval St Emilion, a village synonymous with wine, is a fascinating place to visit.
Saint Emilion / Rauzan area
The moulin is totally secluded but just 2km from the village of Rauzan. Rauzan has a 13th century chateau, cave (grotte) and an excellent wine co-operative. The village has three bread shops, a butcher, banks, bar and a paper shop. St Emilion is just 10 minutes away with restaurant, bars and some of the most famous vineyards in the world.

Guestbook for Moulin de Rioupassat
'Just wanted to let you know that we all had a fantastic time last week. The house was superb, the wine great and your choice of restaurant for the lunch we had was fantastic - way above and beyond anything one could get in London for set menu costing €28!!!! Anyway, there's already talk of heading back to the Moulin in the summer' 'Thank you for making us so welcome in your wonderful house. Your advice and recommendations were great.'
Many thanks for our lovely holiday at the Moulin de Rioupassat : we enjoyed our two weeks there as much as any we have spent in France. You have certainly done a superb job with the Moulin. The accommodation and the equipment were first-rate and the cleanliness and general upkeep of the Moulin quite outstanding.
