Located in the village of St Rome de Cernon, 20 km (12.4 miles) from Millau, Les Caves Basses is the quiet and relaxing place that you have been looking for! Multiple activities are available in the area (sports, historic sites, Viaduc de Millau, Plateau du Larzac, Caves de Roquefort…) and the house is only an hour and ½ drive to the Mediterranean beaches.

Saint Affrique / Saint Rome de Cernon area
Dynamic village of 800 inhabitants, Saint-Rome de Cernon is located in the heart of the Natural Park of the Grands Causses, in the southern part of the Aveyron region. The village enjoys a strong cultural and historical heritage: a feudal castle from the 13th century, the Chateau of Melac (14th century), the Chateau of Laumiere (19th century), the historic dolmens of the Laumiere forest and the parish church from the 19th century decorated with fresco from Nicolaï Greschny. The village also offers beautiful natural and protected areas: the Cernon gorges and its trout river, the national forest of Guiral, the woods of Laumiere, the Larzac cliffs…etc. The cross built at the top of the Sargel plateau became the landmark of the area sitting at the highest point: 760m (2,493ft) high. The Sargel is the home of several pre-historic caves and offers many hiking paths with panoramic views to enjoy with the entire family. The Caves Basses is located right at the foot of this plateau. Saint Rome de Cernon offers many sports activities (sports ground, tennis court, hiking path, climbing, fishing, petanque…) as well as various shops (bakery, convenience store, bar-restaurant…).

The stone structure of this old sheep farm was entirely restored and refurbished; the house is now 350 m2 (3,767 ft2) with 4 bedrooms (from 20m2-215ft2 to 30 m2-323ft2) each equipped with its own bathroom (3 rooms with a bath tub and one with a shower); a special kids bedroom with bunk beds is also available. The large kitchen will allow you to gather family and friends around the main table that can seat up to 8 persons while warming up next to an authentic wooden fire place. The centre piece of the house is the living room which is also equipped with a beautiful circular fire place and a bar; you can also enjoy relaxing moments in the lounge room where you will find the largest fire place of the house. Outside of the house, Les Caves Basses offers a 12.5 meter (41 ft) long swimming pool, a build-in wood fire barbecue as well as a 40m2 (420 ft2) deck where you can enjoy a panoramic view over the Cernon valley and the plateau of the Levezou.
