Burntwood End is very quietly situated in rolling countryside about 1 mile from Little Walden, in grounds of about 3 acres, which include a small lake which attracts a variety of wildlife.
The Barn provides a secluded and tranquil retreat yet has easy access to the picturesque market town of Saffron Walden (about 3 miles), the historic university city of Cambridge (about 12 miles), the important horse racing town of Newmarket and the interesting Suffolk wool towns, such as Lavenham, or Constable country.
Whether your visit is in Spring,Autumn or Winter you will be assured of an interesting view from the window. Geese,duck and a variety of other birdlife, as well as scenic gardens provide an interesting view.

The Barn has a double bed in one room and single bunk beds in the other.
All linen and towels are provided. Electricity is included. The Barn is warm and cosy in the winter!

Lawned area to the side for your exclusive use. An additional area for children to play football or badminton. Quiet, peaceful location. Ample parking and lovely walks on the doorstep.
Garden furniture, hammock and barbecue provided.
John will be very happy to provide you with fresh vegetables and fruit in season from the well stocked garden. Walkers will only need to step outside to join the well marked footpaths.

All linen and hot water included. Night storage heating in all rooms. The Barn is double glazed and well insulated for a cosy stay in the winter. There is also a coal effect electric stove heater in the sitting area.
There is ample parking. Accessible for smaller wheelchairs. Accommodation on one level.
Pets are welcome by arrangement (£10 pw per dog).
Conditions
We ask for £100 deposit per week booked with the balance payable six weeks before arrival. We let from Saturday to Saturday from April to November. Weekends and short breaks available November to April. Obviously you can choose to arrive a day or two later or leave earlier. If you want to reserve a week or more we will send a Booking Form to enable you to confirm the booking. We accept cheques drawn on UK accounts, or internet banking transfers.

The aircraft museum at Duxford, with flying days throughout the summer, is nearby. Audley End mainline rail station to London (60 minutes) is about 8 miles away.
There are a number of interesting walks in the area including Fleam Dyke and the Icknield Way. Little Walden itself is a pleasant walk from Burntwood End and has an excellent pub serving good food.
East Anglia is generally the dryer side of England, and enjoys higher than average sunshine.
The area abounds in places of interest within easy reach. Saffron Walden is a delightful market town,very picturesque and endowed with many restaurants and cafe's as well as places of interest including art galleries and a fine museum. The Tourist Office in Saffron Walden are very helpful and will be delighted to help you make the most of your stay.. Cambridge, London, Ely, the Suffolk wool towns are all accessible for day trips. Best of all you can relax and enjoy peace and quiet on your return to The Barn. We have another property in Saffron Walden if you prefer to be in town.
The Saffron Walden / Little Walden area
Saffron Walden is a quintessential English market town in North West Essex. It has medieval roots and is part of a designated conservation area with examples of architecture from the 12th Century including many timber framed houses and relief plastering in evidence. Nearby is Audley End, an extravagant Jacobean property now run by English Heritage. Market days are Tuesday and Saturdays.

Stansted Airport is 20 minutes drive away with cheap flights with Ryanair and Easy jet to a host of Europaean destinations. Within 2 hours drive of Dover, Felixstowe and Harwich, our Barn is ideally situated to enable visitors from the continent and further afield explore this corner of England. Easy to get to, with numerous tourist destinations for day trips from here, but a peaceful retreat after busy days site-seeing. On the borders of Essex,Cambridgeshire and Suffolk and an ideal base for touring these counties.

We have been letting for some years and regularly update and improve where this is possible. We live close by and enjoy welcoming people from all over the world. However if you want privacy you will not even need to say more than hello as the seclusion and peace of this place is a major asset.

The property's weekend rates apply to: Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights
NB: Prices may be subject to change at the advertiser's discretion.
We let by the week Saturday to Saturday, and we offer a discount for two or more weeks booked.
There is an additional charge of £15 per week and a £50 refundable deposit for a dog.
and £15 for each additional person using extra beds by prior arrangement
We accept payment by UK cheque or bank transfer.
We require a non refundable deposit of £100 per week booked and the balance is payable six weeks before arrival. A booking within six weeks of arrival must be paid in full to reserve.
Our rates are inclusive of linen,towels and elactricity.
