Le Fer à Cheval
About the home
A lovely, spacious 2 bedroom house in a former stable, renovated with taste and charm. Located in a quiet corner at the top of a pretty Provençal village, looking out over the gardens to the medieval church, it's a haven.
Furnished in a traditional style with many vintage pieces sourced at local antiques markets, it is bright, airy and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped with high quality utensils and lots of cookery books in French and English (the owner is a chef).
Sablet is a small, friendly village with all the amenities you need for your holiday: food and wine shops, bar/café and several restaurants as well as lots of wineries to visit! It central location makes it the perfect base for exploring Provence - markets, ancient cities, lavender fields and vineyards. Cycling (mountain or road bike), walking, climbing, horseriding and tennis are all possible in and around the village. For sightseeing, Avignon, Nîmes, Carpentras, Orange, Arles, Aix-en-Provence and Marseille are all an easy drive.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Vaucluse region
With over 300 days of blue skies, the region is heaven for those wishing to escape the grey! The main activity is wine-making (vines were planted here in Roman times) as we are in the heart of the Côtes-du-Rhône. The pace of life is slow and easy with fantastic produce available in the wonderful food markets, great restaurants and long relaxed lunches! There are historic sites and lots of museums to visit, as well as landmarks such as the Mont Ventoux, mythical climb of the Tour de France, and the famous lavender fields of Sault.
The Sablet area
There are events throughout the year, from jazz nights in the local wineries, with trestle tables set up for dinner, to the international book festival, concerts in the vines, food and wine walks, and village festivals. The nearest town of Vaison la Romaine has a Provençal street market every Tuesday, lots of interesting shops and cafés, as well as a Roman theatre where concerts are held in the open air.
