The Swiss Alps region

Saas-Fee lies in the Mischabel mountain range which features many peaks over 4,000 metres including the Dom at 4,545 metres which is Switzerland's highest mountain entirely on its own territory. The village stands at 1,800 metres (6,000 feet) and has a snow record which is envied by many lower lying resorts.

Saas Fee

Saas-Fee is a hugely popular destination for skiers with a wide variety of skiing on over 100km of groomed pistes. The National on the Plattjen is a well known competition run and the Vernissage is a popular nearby stopping-off point for lunch. There are several other challenging pistes, notably at Spielboden and the 'Skull and Crossbones' at the top of the Felskinn lift. Intermediate skiers are well catered for - it is possible to ski from the very top lift beneath the Allalinhorn right down to the village via red runs or turn off onto a blue run for the final stretch to the nursery slopes and stop at the Gletschergrotte for a meal on the sun terrace. Saas-Fee is a favourite resort for beginners too - particularly with the Swiss themselves.

For the quickest way up, take the Felskinn cable car from the nursery slopes straight up to 3,000 metres (10,000 feet) and then take the connecting underground railway, the Metro Alpin, which climbs up to 12,000 feet. Enjoy the surrounding breath-taking views from the revolving restaurant at the top.

The Hannig is a dedicated toboggan run, some 5 kilometres in length - with a well-earned gluwein awaiting near the bottom.

Skiers can enjoy lunch in the many restaurants on the mountain, a particular favourite is the Schaefferstube (only 100 metres from Chalet Jasmin). Walkers can make the worthwhile trek to the excellent Bodmen and the Michelin starred Fletschhorn.

On days off from skiing, try the downhill tracked toboggan run called the 'Feeblitz' rodelbobbahn or visit the Eispavillion which is an ice cavern in the glacier at the Metro Alpin. It is possible to hire skates in the village sports shops and use the ice rink.

For self catering, there are two branches of national supermarket chains in the village. There are also a number of delicatessen/ butchers (City Metzgerei in the village will prepare meat fondues ready for the pot and supply the accompanying sauces), bakers and patisseries and specialist shops selling local produce such as wine and cheese.

Saas-Fee is a thriving village as well as a resort and has many bustling apres ski bars, coffee shops, restaurants and nightclubs.

"Modern yet traditional style chalet with exceptional views, comfortable and fully equiped"

Spent a week with friends in late August. A short walk up from the village centre. Electric taxis are available but would only be required if carrying heavy luggage or the full week's shopping. T… More

"A very well-appointed chalet with stupendous views and piste access"

Saas Fee is a delight being car free and offering fantastic alpine vistas.Chalet Jasmin looks down on the town with a mountain and glacier panorama viewable from its windows. The chalet is spacious, cosy with an open fire and well situated. It is possible to ski in and ski out.It is well-equpped with a high specification TV and sound system.
Chalet Jasmin offers all that skiers and mountain vacationers could ask for.
We look forward to returning to Saas Fee and Chalet Jasmin for another assured fabulous skiing holiday.
