The Austrian Alps / Salzburgerland / Salzburgerland region
Great weather, unbelievable vertical drops, excellent resorts are just a few of the many reasons why you should choose the Austrian Alps for your next vacation.
The Austrian Alps are blessed with a long and lavish snow season. The snow on the ground is generally powdery and fluffy well into spring. Packed powder prevails on the groomed runs, deep powder off-piste. The Austria Snow Report gives you the latest snow conditions at the top ski resorts in Austria, seven days a week, from mid-December to late April.
For non-skiers, there's plenty to do and see. Sleigh rides, snowshoe adventures through snowy alpine trails or ice skating are all available at most resorts. Check out the local sights, shop in uniquely Austrian boutiques, take excursions to some of the beautiful surrounding areas and meet the international crowds that love to gather in the outdoor cafes.
Welcoming friendly faces, delicious restaurants, a sense of history and tradition are at every turn. When you slip into your skis in Austria, you are stepping into another place, another time, another culture.
Saalbach area
Saalbach-Hinterglemm is one of the top ski-resorts in Austria. It boasts 200km of marked pistes and great off-piste opportunities. It is ideal for beginners, intermediates and has outstanding off-piste opportunities for more advanced. The village nightlife is very lively with numerous bars and nightclubs open until the early hours of the morning. Saalbach is famous for Apres Ski with over 40 mountain restaurants and bars
In the summer there are 400km of marked hiking trails, marked mountain bike trails and three downhill tracks. Leisure activities include a high climbing course, outdoor swimming pool, horseriding, parascending and many children's activities.
During the height of summer there are many events, including the annual village festival, the Adidas Slopestyle mountain bike competition, the world amateur mountain bike competition, schnapps tasting, leather trousers and even a rubber boat race through the centre of town!
