Undercliff cottage is ideally situated in the centre of the beautiful town of Rye, opposite Strand Quay and a few hundred yards from the famous Mermaid Street. The whole town is accessible by foot and there are numerous pubs, restaurants, shops and historical buildings right on your doorstep. The stunning beach and dunes at Camber Sands are just a few minutes drive from the cottage. There is also plenty to see and do in the surrounding areas of Kent and Sussex.
Beautifully furnished and surprisingly spacious, with a kitchen/diner, lounge and 3 bedrooms, the cottage is ideal for families or couples sharing. The pretty secluded cliff side garden with outdoor eating area is perfect for alfresco dining whilst the wood burning stove in the lounge makes for lovely cosy nights in.

Built in the 1820's, the cottage retains much of its period charm along with the necessities of modern living. The accommodation is on 2 levels and is entered via the side gate and courtyard and through a stable door into the kitchen/dining area. The beautiful fully fitted Farrow and Ball painted kitchen is fully equipped with hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer dryer, fridge and all the pans/crockery you will need for self catering. This charming room also has a table and chairs for cosy family meals.
The lounge has a wood burning stove and feature beams, television/DVD, a comfortable vintage ercol sofa and leather club chairs. Go up the open staircase and you will find the 2 good size bedrooms with comfortable double beds and ample storage and 1 smaller bedroom with 5'9 bunk beds.
The cottage benefits from gas central heating. All linen and towels are provided. A travel cot and high chair are provided.

Private and secluded cliff side courtyard garden with pergola, barbeque and outside dining table and chairs. Perfect for alfresco dining.
You can unload your car directly outside and park free on the road opposite the cottage overnight and on Sundays. There are many 24 hour car parks within a few minutes walk to leave your car at other times. A parking permit enabling you to park free of charge in a nearby council car park is included as part of your stay.
Conditions
Refundable breakages deposit of £100 required on arrival, to be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).

Rye is a great location for exploring the beautiful counties of Sussex and Kent. There are amazing walks on the South Downs - with great views. Both counties have many charming and quaint villages to explore. There are also many lovely beaches for sunbathing or winter walks. If its towns and shopping you are after, you are spoilt for choice with the cosmopolitan city Brighton or picturesque town of Lewes. With many great country pubs and fine restaurants to try you will never be bored or hungry! Historic Hastings is only 10 miles away - with many attractions such as museums, the castle and galleries. There is also a great deal of fabulous family entertainment associated with a traditional sea-side holiday, including an aquarium, fun fairs and a smugglers theme park.
The surrounding area is well known for its vineyards, galleries, shops and zoos. There is something for every-one from the very young to the older holiday maker!
The Rye area
Rye is a truly beautiful and unique medieval seaside town with many cobbled streets and areas of historical interest, as well as many great and individual shops and a vast selection of lovely pubs and restaurants. You can't beat Rye for a perfect afternoon cream tea in a stunning location. There are a great selection of quirky vintage and retro antique shops - perfect for picking up a bargain to take home!
Throughout the year there are many different and varied festivals that take place in Rye. February sees the annual scallop festival. In the spring Rye hosts an amazing International Jazz festival. In the summer there is the Rye Maritime festival and in September Rye hosts it's annual Arts festival . Any-one for the Wild Boar festival in October?! The famous bonfire extravaganza takes place in November, followed by two weekends of traditional and magical Christmas festivities in December.
Rye harbour is great for both boat and nature lovers, why not take a stroll around the Nature Reserve which is full of wildlife for you to enjoy.
The area surrounding Rye is a great place for walking, sailing, cycling, horse riding and golf . The beautiful village of Winchelsea is definitely worth a visit and nearby is Romney Marsh, favoured by artists for it's light and skies is great for long walks and bird-watching. Of course there are also many great country pubs to provide a well deserved break!
Camber Sands is an amazing beach with unspoilt views of golden sand and sea that seem to stretch for miles. Children and adults alike will enjoy exploring the wonderful sand dunes! Our children and their friends have spent many happy hours playing hide and seek and making dens in the incredible sand dunes. No wonder Camber is famous for its miles of award winning sandy beaches. It is truly the perfect place for a relaxing and traditional family holiday.
Rye is an ideal base for beach and country walks, great shopping, fine food and dining. It has something for ever-one as can be as relaxing or as action packed as you want to make it!

The cottage was well equipped and provided everything we needed for our stay. The location is excellent and is very close to all the shops, pubs, cafes etc in Rye. The cottage was very clean and decorated to a high standard. We also found the beds very comfortable too. |

4 friends away for the weekend. Great cottage, very cosy with all you need. Close to town centre with excellent pub and restaurant seconds away. Fab little garden with decking and table and chairs, a real sun trap. Spent the saturday night in, all the mod cons. Will definately recommend. |
