The Isle of Wight region

Famous for its superb beaches, dramatic coastlines and outstanding natural beauty, the Island is a holiday haven with something for everyone. From secluded coves and wide expanses of sandy beaches it’s not just the stunning landscapes that attract visitors to the Island, but the variety of things to see and do. Rich in a wide variety of sporting and leisure activities, visitors return year after year to enjoy another holiday with Home from Home Holidays. Self-catering is the most popular option because it is both cost effective and offers flexibility with the freedom to come and go as you please.
The Ryde area
Ryde is the gateway to the Island, where the catamaran from Portsmouth docks at the end of the pier and a connecting train can take you as far as Shanklin through Brading, Lake and Sandown. The town's packed with pubs, restaurants and shops and has miles of sweeping golden sandy beaches. A level walk runs along the esplanade to Appley Tower and Puckpool Park, passing the boating lake, ice rink, ten-pin bowling, pitch and putt, fairground, cafes, gardens and children's play area.

Guestbook for Tea Tree Cottage
My daughter & I stayed for one glorious week in May at Tea Tree Cottage .
The cottage is immaculate and very near the sea front. And the luxury of having a hot tub in the very private courtyard before slipping between silk sheets at the end of a day's exploring, well.....priceless!
There is so much to see, one needs more than a week. But a trip to Osbourne House , including a ride in their horse drawn carriage, followed by a meal on the terrace is a luxury not to be missed. For the more rural minded, visit Horse Country , where it feels like a step back in time to childhood days on a farm, complete with tractor ride. And one cannot visit the island without visiting the white lions and tigers at the zoo in Sandown, where else would you get to see such exotic creatures close up? A trip to Shanklin Chine is like entering a magical world of beauty and serenity, yet when exiting you are right on the beach thus having the best of both worlds.
Finally, as a disabled person who relies on crutches to get around, I can recommend both the buses and the local cabs for their friendliness and helpful manner. Where else do the cabs pull out steps to help you into the vehicles? Also, I don't know where else a disabled person gets free entry to places , due to the amount of walking and climbing needed. This was my experience during our wonderful week.
Where ever we went, starting with Cathy the owner of Tea Tree Cottage, we were met with smiles and a friendly helpful attitude, a refreshing change from inner London and a real antidote to the frenetic pace of today's busy working world.
We stayed a week in February with our three children and loved every minute of it. You can walk anywhere in Ryde, take the Ferry/ Hovercraft or explore the island. The rooms were very nice and the whole house was very comfortable and felt like a home. The kitchen had everything we needed and we had enough space in the house to relax or paly games after a busy day or even on a rainy day.
Throughly enjoyed our stay.
Thanks
We had a wonderful long weekend at Tea Tree Cottage; it certainly lived up to expectations.
On arriving at the cottage late Friday evening we were both delighted to find it both warm and much larger than we had imagined. The two downstairs receptions were of good size and offered plenty of space to easily accommodate 8 people. The dining room had patio doors that opened out into a south facing walled courtyard (the kids couldn't escaped) and we could've easily imagined ourselves dining alfresco, although obviously not in December. It also opened up into a contempary kitchen which contained everything I required to cook for us all weekend.
Upstairs we found 3 double bedrooms, one with an en-suite and a separate bathroom. The entire cottage had just undergone a modernization program which we felt had been carried out to a very high standard and the place was immaculately clean. The owners of the property had obviously thought long and hard about what would appeal to the holiday maker and we felt they had easily achieved their goal.
We took a short walk to the beach hut on the Sunday morning and although too cold to use we could appreciate how wonderful this facility would be in better weather. It only took us 5 minuets to get there and its situation couldn't be better with uninterrupted views across 'The Solent' and a beach cafe near by.
We found lots of shops close to the cottage so supplies were close to hand as were many restaurants, cafes and pubs.
We came to the Isle of Wight looking for a relaxing weekend where we could take long walks, eat great food and do our own thing. Tea Tree Cottage provided us with the perfect base to do this from.
We would strongly recommend Tea Tree Cottage to everyone.
