The Isle of Wight region

Less than 5 miles from Hampshire, the Isle of Wight shimmers in the English Channel. Notorious for its unspoilt beauty, leading sailing port of Cowes and many outdoor activities, the Isle of Wight holiday is perfect for getting away from it all - at any time of year. Whether you enjoy sunny days on the beach, portside pursuits or family days out, Blue Chip Holidays' Isle of Wight holiday cottages will position you right where you need to be. The Isle of Wight was home to Queen Victoria and Lord Tennyson. Cowes holds the oldest regatta in the world, Cowes Week. Jimi Hendrix gave his last major performance on the Isle of Wight.

Ryde's beaches stretch for more than six blissful miles, and it's one of those resorts that seem to have a feel good atmosphere all year round. Better yet, the position of the town means it's well-served by a hovercraft and a catamaran that bring passengers to and from the mainland – so it gets more visitors than any other area of the Isle of Wight. Ryde holiday cottages attract couples (thanks to the quieter coves and romantic views), families (who enjoy the great connections and many attractions) and those who simply love the island, so expect a bustling town with lots to see and do. 'Ticket to Ride' was inspired by a trip John Lennon and Paul McCartney took to Ryde. Ryde is known for its expansive beaches that appear at low tide. Hovercrafts and Catamarans connect Ryde to the mainland.
