"We love this place! And we loved the butterflies in the garden!"

This is a genuine old English Countryside cottage (must be 300 years old?)

We returned to Rutland again for the second time since 2009 and thankfully we managed to get a booking in this cottage again.

When we booked it this time, there was four adults and two teenagers and two dogs and the place doesn't feel cramped!

I dispute the accuracy of another review here as this is the second time we've stayed here and we feel that the photos look exactly what the place is like. Both times, we have found it warm and welcoming. We were left a welcome pack which included tea, coffee, sugar, fruit juice, bread milk and more (not the cheap stuff either)!

One thing that had changed is the large Buddleia bush that grown in the back garden and in the mornings it is completely covered in beautiful butterflies; it really was quite magical, we've never seen anything like it.

My wife and I have promised ourselves a visit back in the winter, just the two of us, so we can enjoy the peace and quiet and the log fire! ;)

"Not that bad!"

After reading the previous review we turned up for our stay with some trepidation.OK the place is shabby and could do with a bit of a makeover, but it was clean and comfortable. It was not expensive a… More

Thank you for your comments and feedback. We do have a number of guests who return to the cottage every year as it is a great base from which to explore Rutland. We take all comments seriously and the refurbishments will be completed shortly which we hope will help maximise the enjoyment of all our guests holidays

"Don't be deceived by the pictures & description!"

When I called to arrange picking up the keys on the day of our arrival he had no idea we were coming even though we had booked the cottage weeks earlier. The entire place was musty, damp and generally… More

I am very sorry to hear you were not happy with your stay. Firstly, I apologise that our caretaker was not aware of you arrival, this was due to a technical error with the automated system. I understand he was however still able to make himself available and the property available for you when you arrived. It is our normal practice to air and warm the property prior to a guests arrival and this did not happen because of the error. I can confirm there is no damp at the property, but it may have appeared that way because the property had not been aired.

The season is coming to an end and as such there are items that do require some attention which we normally look to address during the low season. Our standards of cleanliness are very high and we have never had such report before so I can only apologise again and assure you that it is a one off, and hope you would be able to give us another opportunity to show you this once the refurbishments are complete.
