Fully staffed with everything you need to enjoy this home away from home. A gardener, housekeeper, cook and evening security guard (as required by Jamaican law) are all lookiing after your every need. Enjoy the privacy on the hill - or, head in to Ocho Rios to take advantage of the markets, shops, clubs and casino! When you have shopped till you drop head up the hill to Barbary. Take a dip in the pool and enjoy a movie, play a game, put together a puzzle, or curl up with a good book as you plan the next days adventures!

The North Jamaica Coast region
Ocho Rios is located on the north shore overlooking the beautiful Carribbean ocean. Ochie is 90km from either Montego Bay or Kingston. The weather is great year around with temperatures in the mid 80's (farenheit).
Runaway Bay / Ocho Rios area
Dunn's River Falls - Only 7 minutes from Barbary. A must do activity is a walk up the falls! Fern Gully - a 3 mile stretch of highway just 5 minutes away. Fern Gully is lined with lush ferns and tropical plants. Walking distance from Barbary find Mahoe Falls & Coyaba Gardens These gardens & museum are a major tourist destination in Ocho Rios Shaw Park Botanical Gardens are minutes from Barbary. Offering 25 beautiful acres of gardens and water falls. Wassi Art Pottery offers a great tour of their pottery factory just east of Barbary & Ocho Rios. Wassi Pottery has a showroom of original works that they will pack for travel or shipping. Shop 'till you drop during the day and enjoy the nightlife in Ocho Rios at the numerous nightspots where Reggae is the music of choice. Beaches, boating, snorkeling, scuba, parasailing, biking, golf, tennis, horseback riding...you name the outdoor activity and you can find it in Ochie.
How to get there
Fly into Montgo Bay or Kingston airports. Each are about 90 km from Ocho Rios. A driver can pick you up and/or you can rent a car. Recommend Carribbean Car Rental as they will pick you up at the airport and return and it is included in the price of the car rental.

Further details indoors: Set on 2 1/2 acres on the ridge overlooking Ocho Rios, Barbary is built around an indoor open air atrium. You can stand in the sun or watch the stars without ever leaving the villa! The house has a card room, living room, large sun room, dining room, kitchen & pantry in addition to the atrium area. All of these spaces are great places to gather and enjoy the company of your travel mates.
The master bedroom boasts a hand carved four poster Jamaican mahogany king size bed and two en suite bathrooms. Three of the bedrooms have air conditioning for those occassional evenings when the hillside breezes do not keep you comfortable. A fourth bedroom is created when we curtain off the card room and put in a queen size bed. Additional singles are available for the other large bedrooms.
The villa has a lending library for guests, over 50 movies (vhs & dvd), and a cupboard full of puzzles and games.
Further details outdoors: The outdoors is fully fruited (limes, oranges, grapefruit, mango, ackee, coconut) and is totally private, entrance to the villa is on a large circular drive that seems to circle the top of the ridge. There is a lovely pond & fountain in the front yard and a private pool around the side. The villa offers total privacy for our guests. In addition, the exquisite grounds have been carefully groomed by the same excellent gardener for over 30 years.
Conditions
Refundable breakages deposit of £100 required with payment in full, to be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).
25% of rental fee due to secure booking - full payment due by 30 days prior to arrival.
Children under 5 must be supervised as the outside property is built on a hill, as can be seen from the pictures.

"The place, scenery and people providing the services were excellent. The villa was amazing - exquisite, large, cool, bright and airy rooms, etc. The place was peaceful during the days and nights and it could be an inspiration for writers and thinkers. The scenery was well above expectations, e.g. great view of Ocho Rios, the sea, cruise ships, and so on. However, what made the stay so wonderful were the staff who were so respectful, helpful, good company, and always down-to-earth. I only wished that we could have stayed longer. "I was part of the Sweeney party that came on 5th Nov, once I got used to the atrium and lizards coming in it was definitely somewhere I could stay for a longer period. Rossetta, Lorraine, George the security guard were absolutley wonderful and made use feel very welcome. George the gardener was so knowledgeable about the plants and the garden as a whole, we couldn't fault the service they provided and miss them lots. I really hope I can come back and see them.
