The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente region
Souvigne is a small village set in rural Charente.There are no facilities in the village .The nearest shops are four kms away and the nearest supermarkets are fourteen kms away.there are many restaurants within easy reach.Also within easy reach are numerous places of interest including Cognac Saintes La Rochelle and Angouleme and the region is steeped in history dating from the Romans to the Templars and to the second world war.
Ruffec / Souvigne area
There are many local markets and car boot sales selling a wide range of charentais produce.Rouillac has a famous street market which is held on the 27th of each month and nearby Confolens holds a wonderful international festival of music and danse from the 12th to the 17th of August.
