About this location
The Brittany region
At the gateway to Brittany and with Normandy on our doorstep, you can explore 2 gastronomic cultures, some lovely beaches and an array of historic towns. Dinan is our favourite town, with a medieval castle and a very steep cobbled street down to the old port on the river Rance. St Malo is close by, and as well as a marina and wide beaches you can explore the old town, rebuilt after WWII as a replica of its' pre-war facade. Fougeres boast the largest medieval castle in Europe.
The coast changes rapidly from dramatic cliffs, with little bays at the foot, to wide expanses of soft sand. The countryside undulates, and there are plenty of footpaths and forests close by.
The panoramic gardens at Roz sur Couesnon have a stunning view across the polders to Mont St Michel. The big fete is the Pardon des Moutons, which is a big barbecue of lamb, held on the polders on the first Sunday in August. The is a fete des moules (mussels) in July, though the date changes.
Roz has tennis courts for public use. Other things to do nearby are:
Sand yachting: the vast beach at Cherrueix is ideal for sand yachting. Lessons for beginners are available if you've never tried this sport before.
Water sports: there are several water sport centres along the coast where you can sail, windsurf and water-ski. Motorboats can also be hired.
Go-karting: a superb competition go-karting track is situated on the coastal road at St-Meloir-des-Ondes (in the direction of St-Malo).
Horse riding: novices and experienced riders can ride across the bay of Mont-St-Michel.
Forest adventure park: swing through the trees! There are three different levels to suit all ages and abilities.
Donkey Sanctuary - you can pet the donkeys at La Boussac.

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased you enjoyed the views, which are stunning. We are sorry that you did not like the gardens. The garden is rustic, with an eclectic mix of trees, including a pine and a palm! We want the garden to be informal and relaxing. We are still trying to find the balance between maintaining the gardens and leaving our guests in peace to enjoy their holiday and it sounds like we haven't yet got the right balance. We are constantly reviewing our property and will be doing some more work on the garden in the autumn.
