About the home

This spacious self-catering 4 star villa can comfortably accommodate up to eight people. The intimate patio with parasols, garden furniture and barbecue enables you to dine al fresco, while the young and young at heart can enjoy a game of table football or table-tennis.
The patio opens onto the sun-drenched pool area, fenced and sheltered by a thick hedge and its covered pool.

Situated in a lively and sunny region, our villa is a wonderful spot for family holidays, from June to September, close to lots of attractions but set in peaceful surroundings. It is perfectly suited for quiet families,children and toddlers.
Whether you want to have a relaxing or an action-packed holiday, this is the right spot !

* Three bedrooms, a separate WC and a bathroom -with a shower and a double balneo bathtub- are located on the ground floor, which can be useful for those who may have difficulties climbing stairs.
* In the games room,kids will find different board games and adults who would like to keep fit can train with an abdo exerciser or walk on a treadmill.
* All bedrooms have built-in cupboards and wardrobes.
* For guests with young children :
- the stairs are equipped with safety gates
- oven and induction hob stay cold (no risk of burned fingers).
- Toddlers are welcome, too: baby bath, cot, highchair, changing mat, baby cuttlery etc and games.

Unwind in the spacious pool (12m x 6 m ) or on the sun loungers in the swimming pool area.
It is secluded by a thick hedge, fenced ,closed by a gate and adorned with two Tiki statues.

The swimming pool area is fenced and closed by a gate.The private pool is covered to meet French pool safety requirements and makes a safe and fun-filled environment for children. The all weather shelter also enables you to swim at all times, from June to September,as it keeps the water clean, nice and warm (summer temperature: 24 ° to 30 ° Celsius ~75,2 to 85 F.). It is high enough to enable you to swim under, without you feeling "stifled"! This shelter is made up of six different parts which can be lifted, if you like.
The garden is also for you: season your meals with our various herbs and, in season, feel free to taste our fruit from the orchard: we grow organic!

Nature lovers will enjoy birdwatching: we are members of the Bird Life Association (LPO) and we have provided nesting boxes in the garden.
There are lots of activities for all ages and tastes in our region. To help you discover it, we have a home-made welcome book with insider tips, together with brochures and maps, of course!

* The villa is situated in a quiet residential area and is fit for quiet guests only.
* This is a non smoking villa: ashtrays will be provided in the patio, in the swimming pool area and in the garden.
* Pets are allowed after prior arrangement with the owners.

A 400 € non-refundable deposit per week is required at the time of booking.
Your booking will be confirmed as soon as we receive your non-refundable deposit, the signed contract and the home liability insurance.

The balance outstanding to be paid eight weeks before your arrival by bank transfer.

Payable with the balance by bank transfer, a 1500 € security deposit against damage. It is returnable within ten days of departure if the property has been left in the order and cleanliness it was at the beginning of the stay (in accordance with French legislation).

Lounge: a touch of South Pacific style

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente Maritime region

The Charente Maritime area of France is situated on the west coast between Nantes and Bordeaux. Charente Maritime nearly boasts as much sunshine as the French Riviera. This is a beautiful region of France where vineyards, oyster farms, beaches abound, not to mention historic places and Romanesque churches.

Safe family beaches with calm waters or endless wild sandy beaches, lined by sand dunes and pine forests, a paradise for nature lovers or watersports enthusiasts, we have them all !
These beaches offer a wide range of watersports ( windsurfing, sailing, pedaloes, jet-ski in Royan, etc)
The aptly named “ Wild Coast ” - “La Côte Sauvage ” stretches out from Saint-Palais to Ronce-les Bains: famous for its waves, it is the meeting point of surfers.

The region is also famous for its cultural heritage: medieval Romanesque churches of all kinds abound. Saintes was one of the halts on the Santiago de Compostella pilgrim route.
The old harbour and the city of La Rochelle, the citadel of Brouage, Rochefort and its maritime heritage, Saintes and its Roman ruins, the pretty town of Talmont, near the Gironde estuary are but a few examples of the cultural wealth of the region.

Last but not least, discover our typical products: try tasty Charentais melons, grown in open fields- Charentaise "galette", fish, shellfish -oysters and mussels are famous here-, salt from the local marshes, local wines, Pineau and Cognac ! The vineyards of Cognac are worth a visit.

The Royan / Saujon area

Saujon, Royan and its region have a lot to offer: Romanesque churches contrasting with Royan's architecture of the fifties', beautiful sandy beaches, a wide range of sports, -not to mention the remarkable 18 hole golf course, situated in the pine forest-, lovely landscapes dominated by sunflower fields and vineyards, pine forests near the “ Côte Sauvage ”, bustling resorts or typical villages, and … its wonderful summer weather, as it is the second sunniest region in France.

One of the "musts", for all ages: the zoo de La Palmyre, one of the most visited places of interest in Charente Maritime.

There are lots of activities for all ages and for all tastes!

Saujon is ideally situated, close to Royan -11 km and the Atlantic Coast, near Saintes and not far from Bordeaux.The town has 2 large supermarkets, 2 discount stores, lots of shops, a lively market, bars and restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes.
On our road, there is a bakery and a discount store, and we are very near the town center.A good restaurant is 5 minutes'walk .
A few recommanded attractions in Saujon:
* “ L’espace de la Lande”, our “ common ” and its lake: walking, cycling (bike hire in town), fishing , picnic area, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pool, fitness trail course.A great place for your pet, too.
*Fishing in the Riberou port.
* Horse or pony trekking (“ Poney Club ”, riding in the countryside, along River Seudre, passing oyster farms etc)
* Thalassotherapy in Saujon
* The local fair, not to be missed ! on the second Monday of the month and the daily market (from Tuesday to Saturday),here you can get the regional specialities.
* Board the “ Little Train ” and discover River Seudre and the marshes. ( The train travels from Saujon to Mornac and La Tremblade).

* Nearest airport is La Rochelle : the villa is only a 45 minute drive away. Lots of cheap flights available with the following Airlines: Jet2, Easyjet,Flybe, Ryanair,AerArann
Many rental car agencies : book your rental car before arriving, a rental agent will be waiting for you at the airport upon your arrival.

* Bordeaux airport is another option: it is just one and a half hour drive from our villa. A10 motorway, exit 37 and D730 from Mirambeau to Royan.
Cheap flights are available from Dublin, Birmingham, London, Manchester, Bristol, Southhampton .
Rental cars are situated in the airport hall A (arrivées)

By ferry: Saint Malo (=> Portsmouth): 4h30 / Caen (=>Portsmouth) : 6h / Cherbourg(=> Portsmouth) : 6h50 / Calais (=>Dover) :8h

By TGV train:
* TGV from Paris-Montparnasse to La Rochelle in less than 3 hours. (Car rental: AVIS opposite the station - Tel: 05 46 41 13 55)
* TGV from Paris-Montparnasse to Niort and then TER to Saujon (direction Royan). The station is just 1km away from our property.

By road
Saujon is not far from the A10 motorway (which links Paris to Bordeaux).
Motorway A10, exit Saintes (25 minutes driving to our villa)

“A real find - this fantastic property has great facilities, a large pool and lovely gardens/ orchard” We had a superb holiday here. We visited in a group of 8 (4 adults and 4 children from 3 - 7). The layout of the house is perfect for 2 families, with 2 bedrooms upstairs and a seperate 'wing' of the house with 3 further bedrooms. We were amazed by the pool - it is so much bigger than it looks in photos! And also by the size of the gardens. There is lots of room for 'al fresco' dining with a lovely BBQ/ patio area with a huge dining table as well as a big table/ chairs by the pool. There is a games room with toys in it for children, as well as table tennis, table football and 2 football goals - enough for kids and big kids alike! The area is lovely - fantastic beaches are within 15 mins drive, and Saujon itself has nice restaurants , supermarkets, boulangerie etc. There are many nice towns to visit nearby...however we found it very hard to tear ourselves too far away from the pool :) The owners were incredibly welcoming and the villa is thoughtfully equipped to make you feel welcome and comfortable (WI-FI, info on local attractions as well as personal touches).

“Well equipped spacious house with lovely swimming pool in quiet location” The villa is ideal for two or more families to share. We shared the villa with our children and grandchildren. It is extremely well equipped and the swimming pool is exceptionally large and warm. The hosts are very welcoming and provide a lot of useful information about the local area. The location is very quiet, it is in a small town with good access to many nice places in the surrounding area such as the Gironde estuary, Royan, Ile d'Oleron, Rochefort and La Rochelle. Our dog loved walking in the local amenity park! Response: Thank you for your lovely comment! We are delighted to see the whole family- and your dog!- spent a lovely holiday in our villa, enjoyed the pool and the garden. “Very nice house in an interesting part of France” We had a nice vacation, although the weather was not really helping. The villa was really nice and the covered pool (water up to 30°C !) was fantastic. We enjoyed the very friendly atmosphere in the small towns and on the local markets and we can certainly recommend the local restaurants where we had very good seafood.
