The North Wales region
North West Wales is a special place in the UK, with a diverse countryside based around the Snowdonia National Park and with plenty of attractions for the visitor. Snowdon is the highest mountain and favoured by most tourists, who can reach the top either by sitting sedately in the steam train or by struggling up many of the rocky paths. There's other mountains to climb of course, such as the Carneddau (named after the Welsh princes) or Tryfan (the test ground for explorers of Everest).
Less strenuous activities include strolling alongside the rivers of Betws-y-Coed, being splashed by waterfalls, or fishing in the lakes above Llanrwst.
The North Wales coastline is dominated by the 13th-century stone castles of King Edward, Caernarfon Castle being the choice of the Queen to invest her son Charles with the title "Prince of Wales". And there are National Trust properties as well, such as Penrhyn Castle near Bangor and Plas Newydd on Anglesey.
Horse-riding, sailing, exploring underground mines, white water-rafting, dancing at music festivals, and bike racing can always be found somewhere in this corner of Wales. But if it's a sunny day, try the sandy beaches of Llandudno, Penmaenmawr or the Llyn Peninsula for pure relaxation.
Tan y Graig near Conwy provides the perfect place from which to explore Snowdonia. Conwy itself has plenty for the visitor, including Conwy Castle, the Smallest House in Britain, the Conwy River Festival, and the Bluegrass Festival if country music makes you swing. Near to Conwy, Llandudno hosts all the main department stores, renowned theatre, pier and beaches, the Great Orme Country Park, and Copper Mines. For gardeners, the National Trust's Bodnant Gardens is worth a leisurely visit.
From Tan y Graig, you can easily take the coast road westwards towards Bangor, the Llyn or the Island of Anglesey, turn eastwards towards Colwyn Bay and Rhyl, or drive inland along the Conwy Valley to reach mountains, green valleys and cool lakes.
Hwyl - enjoy!

"Very nice holiday week!"
Very good holiday week. Everyday we left (not early) the caravan to visit the area : Llandudno, Conwy, Caernafon, Bodnant Gardens. We walked at Bets y Coed and Conwy Mountain. The caravan is situated in a quiet place among the trees and well equiped. We were 6 people and enjoyed having meals and watching TV. The teens had a lot of fun with Sky channels and Timber game.
