The Istria region
Istria is the westernmost county of the Republic of Croatia and is the largest peninsula of the Adriatic.
This region of breath-taking scenery and superb Roman ruins is a paradise for gourmets...
A gastronomic delight Istria enjoys a unique culinary repertoire. Bearing the accolade of being one of the most eco-friendly nations in the Mediterranean, only the freshest, organically-grown food reaches its markets and restaurants, and the region abounds with superb local delicacies.
The crystalline waters of the Adriatic teem with over 400 known species of fish, for which Croatians have devised a wide repertoire of recipes. In many restaurants you may not find a detailed menu as much will depend on the best and freshest catch of the morning – let your hosts make the choice for you! The region is also rich in delicious shellfish, from oysters glistening on their shells to salads of octopus and potato, scented with garlic and dressed with the rich local olive oil. You'll also find langoustines, crab and the famous mussels of the Lim Channel. You should also sample the delicious typically Croatian risotti of tender squid, the rice black with iodine-rich ink
Restaurants & Bars - There are numerous restaurants and bars in Rovinj, we have created a guest information pack where you can find further information on arrival.
The Rovinj islands & mainland - These natural sights have been justly described as "outstanding scenic wonders", because of the pristine beauty of the indented coastline and its forests, consisting of holm oak and Alpine pine trees. This area "of outstanding natural beauty" extends from Sv. Ivan promontory to Barbariga, including all the Rovinj islands and the mainland 500 metres from the shore line.
The Limska draga fjord - This flooded karstic canyon, which has been declared "a special maritime reserve" and "an area of outstanding natural beauty", is a testimony to the climatic changes and geological evolution of Istria. With its emerald green sea and varied vegetation this is one of the most beautiful fjords on the Adriatic coast. Romuald's cave is situated here.
The "Zlatni rt" Forest Park - Together with Dubrovnik's Trsteno park, the "Zlatni rt" is the most important park on the Croatian side of the Adriatic. Apart from thousands of indigenous and domesticated plants, such as the groves of holm oaks and Alpine pines, the deep shade in this age-old park is also created by many foreign plants, such as the ceder, the pine and some ten species of cypress, which all contribute to the park's distinctly Mediterranean atmosphere.
Trips to Venice - In the summer season it is possible to take a day trip from Rovinj on the "Prince Of Venice" ferry, an excellent day out and something we highly recommend. For more info go to http://www.kompas-online.net/pages/cruisesferries/prince_istria.aspx

"Delightful apartment, clean, all necessary facilities, quiet, comfortable and in the centre of everything - fantastic."
Beautifully clean, very comfortable large bed, aircon upstairs & down, big clean fridge, plenty of space. Great corner sofa, dining table. Lots of useful things/ guides left for guests. Good cooking facilities & utensils. Wooden floors throughout. Power shower. Toilets upstairs & down. Supermarket & bakery just opposite, all fresh. Restaurants, shopping, old city & sightseeing minutes away. Wine cheap & good. Only noises were the seagulls. Private, not bothered by neighbours. Local agent incredibly helpful.

"Already planning my next trip!"
What a fantastic holiday...so much so I've booked tickets for the festival happening in Rovinj in September. Have fallen in love with this stunning coastal town and this apartment was just perfect for our stay there. Situated in the centre of town, along one of the narrow cobbled streets, this traditional Croatian apartment offered exactly what my boyfriend and I needed to enjoy our much anticipated holiday. We spent our days enjoying all Rovinj has to offer, particularly the short boat trip to the island Otok, perfect for picnics and swimming, hiring bikes to explore the pine forests and coastline and eating in the many restaurants and cafes (must just mention Monte's-amazing!) We found the apartment to be very well equipped, clean and surprisingly peaceful considering its close proximity to town. Getting there couldn't have been easier as we were met by Dave, the UK agent at the airport and driven the 1/2 hour journey to Rovinj where we were given keys and directions to the apartment. We were also able to arrange a lift back to the airport which took the stress out of travelling making this one of the most relaxing holiday I've had in a long time. Thanks for a great stay, see you September!
Hannah, thanks for the review and I have to agree Monte should get a special mention, it's a real gem.

"Excellent base in a fabulous harbour location on the Croatian coastline"
Very good process for booking, clear directions and welcome to the property and a very good local agent in David acting of behalf of the owners, who went out of his way to make us feel welcome and guide us on arrival. Apartment clean and very comfortable, has all amenities required for a week's stay and is ideally located close to the harbour and restaurants. Would certainly recommend for first time visitors to Rovinj.
Hi thanks very much for the review, glad you enjoyed your stay. Jeremy.

"Bright, Clean and well equiped with good shower and very comfortable bed"
Poco Paradiso is very well positioned for all of the restaurants and shops etc and beaches a comfortable walk away - good to access trips by water and by bus and water to Venice. Equiped well for seating eating and bathing with plenty of books to borrow and beach mats for the beach etc. Settee's and beds very comfy and Shower good flow and always hot. Flat very quiet and no noise from neighbours. Situated in an area where locals live. My husband and I are 64/65 years old and the steep stairs were no problem to us but anybody thinking of going needs to be aware that the stairs are steep and there are no lifts. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will return.

it's been a wonderful stay - a very nice and comforable apartment in the heart of Rovinj, very close to the main square, but in a quite street. Beautiful chimes of the church, magic ancient houses in a historical place with old polished by thousands of feet cobblestones, mysterious steps down to the sea... we just fell in love with you, Rovinj! thanks to Jeremy, the owner and Dave, the meet and greet manager, we had a wonderful time that we'll never forget! Thank you beautiful Croatia :)
Thanks so much for your review, so pleased to hear you had a great time. We also love Rovinj! Jeremy.

"Lovely Apartment & Beautiful Place"
Lovely apartment nestled in the old part of the town close to all the restaurants and bars . Set at the back of the building so really quiet in the evenings. The apartment is well equipped and modern. We stayed for a week and there was more than enough to keep us amused in Rovinj, we only managed to sample half the restaurants but they were all very good. It’s worth hiring bikes and follow the path around the harbour where you will find some lovely pine forest beaches.
