The Istria region


Istria is a mixture of Italian with the particular charm of the Croatian Adriatic. A green countryside of vine groves and rolling hills, with mediaeval fortified towns and villages, idyllic stone buildings with a magnificent coast line where you'll find a multitude of charming little ports. With a Mediterranean climate of long hot sunny days in summer, mild winters and warm springs it makes the area a perfect holiday destination.
The Rovinj / Centener area
Rovinj is a historic old town built on a small peninsula with the Church of St Euphemia dominating the skyline. The town has a beautiful harbour and marina and the centre of the old town is pedestrianised with all local amenities being close and accessible by foot.
Rovinj's summer days consist of clear azure seas, shingle beaches along a jagged and varied coastline, with a rich and diverse marine life, making this an ideal location for swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing in one of the many rocky coves. The national park is just five minutes walk away which is perfect for cycling or walking.
Rovinj's summer nights are exceptionally eventful. Most evenings host some form of concert, whether you prefer traditional local music, pop, jazz or classical music. You can visit open air exhibits where many local and foreign artists exhibit their works as well as theatrical performances. Rovinj also hosts some of the finest selection of restaurants, inns and cafe bars in Istria.
Other excursions include a day trip to Venice, a visit to the Limski Canal, a beautiful fjiord which can be visited by boat from Rovinj, the pretty inland medieval towns of Bale and Motovun or the Brijuni Islands, a national conservation area and formerly President Tito's summer palace.
