The Old Barn
from £15 /night help
Gite | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
Welcome to our lovingly restored holiday cottages. At the end of a quiet lane, nestled on the side of a valley, there is no traffic, no noise and no distractions. Despite these tranquil surroundings, we are still close to all the main site seeing attractions at Sarlat, Les Eyzies, Perigueux, Beynac and Domme. Originally barns, both properties have been recently renovated and are well equipped to provide you with everything you will need for your stay. Newly decorated and furnished, they have a bright and light feel, while still retaining some of the original oak beams and woodwork. But in all honesty, the views are what make this property really special. Sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine on a summers evening, watching the spectacular sunsets over the valley and the chateau, will give you holiday memories to take away and cherish forever.

One of two cottages, a really cute, recently renovated barn. It sleeps 2, so would suit a couple or a family with a young child. Situated on the side of the valley, the views from the terrace overlooking the valley and the chateau are truly beautiful.
The property includes one double bedroom, with a double bed. A fully equipped open plan kitchen and dining area, together with a TV and UK satellite. Both the living area and the bedroom open out onto a terrace overlooking the valley, where you can sit and enjoy alfresco dining. Originally a barn, renovated in 2012, so newly decorated and furnished, the cottage is fresh and bright, but still retains some of its rustic charm with original oak beams and woodwork.
Ideally situated, the cottage is close to all the main site seeing attractions at Sarlat, Les Eyzies, Perigueux, Beynac and Domme but its peaceful location also offers the perfect ‘get away from it' all holiday.
The Dordogne region
Known as the land of 1000 castles. The Dordogne in the South West of France is steeped in history with stunning scenery literally around every corner. The area has something for everyone, with caves and grottoes dating back to the prehistoric times, stunning chateaux and gardens as well as vineyards that produce some of the finest wine in the world
In the heart of the Perigord Noir in the Dordogne, the property is a ten minute stroll from the village. There you will find two excellent bakeries offering fantastic fresh breads and mouthwatering pastries. There is also a bank, a newsagents selling British papers, a pharmacy, a post office and three bar/restaurants, where you can sit outside, enjoying a coffee or a beer and watch the world go by. Market day is Sunday, selling free range duck and organic vegetables and locally produced cheeses and wines. In the surrounding area you will find a huge variety of things to see and do. You can visit one of the many caves, the most famous being Lascaux, or take a canoe or boat trip on the river and experience some really breathtaking scenery. For wine lovers, take a trip to one of the local vinyards and enjoy an afternoon of wine tasting. Experience one of the many great local restaurants and sample some of the world’s best food. Or just take a walk enjoy the beautiful views and stunning scenery.

"Comfortable accommodation in stunning location"
We had a wonderful time at the Old Barn. The location is perfect, being close to many of the region's fascinating and beautiful sites, on the edge of the pretty and interesting village and a short walk away from the local supermarket and snack bar. The weather was such that we were always able to eat outside, looking over the fields, with a herd of beautiful cattle to entertain us and the evocative turrets of the local chateau rising out of the trees, just as it appears on the website. The bed and sofa are very comfortable and the shower room, though tiny is adequate. Karen and Steve were very helpful, even taking in our washing when there was a sudden storm. All in all a really good stay.

"Just what we had in mind"
We loved our stay at the old barn; it offered us exactly what we were looking for - peaceful surroundings, privacy, convenience to local shops and friendly owners.
Karen and Steve were superb and made us feel very welcome and were always there if we needed anything without being intrusive.
The Old Barn itself had the equipment and facilities we needed and we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

Thanks Karen and Steve. We have had a fantastic week exploring the Dordogne valley. The gite is in a great position for visiting all the highlights of this beautiful area. We found the gite very comfortable and the setting was perfect for us. We would not hesitate to book with you again if we ever came to this area again. Always a great welcome from Scooby as we returned in the evenings. Once again thanks and we wish you the very best in your future ventures.
