Northern England region

Northumberland is one of the most spectacular counties in Britain, an area of white-sand beaches, heather-topped fells and wooded dales. It is a place of wide-open spaces beneath big skies. Northumberland is a stunning County with it all.

The area is border country which gives it its wealth of historic sites and its feel. Walk the Roman Wall with its stunning setting, its forts and mile castles. Visit medieval castles galore, fortified farmhousesand pele towers, This County has more castles than anywhere else in England.

As well as the heritage and the scenery, there is so much to do. The area is peppered with golf courses, The quiet roads and miles of forest tracks are perfect for cyclists. It is the home of Hardy's fishing tackle for a reason - splendid fishing. You can walk for miles without meeting a soul. If you are looking for peace and a place to recharge yourself this is the place.

Rothbury

Warton is on the edge of the National Park. Ideally placed for both country and coast. Visit Keilder Forest with its trees, water, quiet roads and tracks. It is a dark area and the observatory is worth a look.
