Northern England region

Northumberland is renowned for being one of the most beautiful counties in England, with very little to spoil the natural landscape. It is also very rich in history with more castles than any other county and links with the beginnings of Christianity on nearby Holy Island.

The one hundred of miles of untouched coastline is a designated Area of Outstanding Beauty and is therefore a popular destination for those who want to find some peace and quiet. Birdwatchers and nature lovers can't help but fall in love with the region, abundant with rare birds, red squirrels and wild deer. There is plenty to see and do in this beautiful and exciting region.

Rothbury

Netherton Village is quite small comprising mostly of residential buildings as well as a pub, The Star, which is very intimate and has a great pub quiz. The nearby village of Rothbury provides all of the amenities (except a petrol station) that you may need with plenty of grocery stores, bakers, cafes, pubs as well as beautiful riverside walks.

Also in Rothbury is the stunning National Trust property and extensive estate, Cragside, which is a great day out for all the family. Horse riding, fishing, golf and walking are also available locally.

The villages and towns of Rothbury, Alnwick and Morpeth (and Newcastle about 50 minutes away) are all within easy reach by car and well worth a visit. Alnwick Gardens and Castle for example provide a great day out for the whole family. In addition, the historic Hadrian's Wall, as well as the coastal towns of Bamburgh, Berwick, Craster, Holy Island and Seahouses on Northumberland's Heritage Coast are within just a half hour drive of the cottage.

With a wide choice of activities nearby, local walks and the opportunity to relax and enjoy this peaceful location, this cottage provides the ideal location for a family holiday in the county. More details of local attractions are available in the cottage.
