Pretty Georgian Grade II listed house in Central Marlow

Townhouse | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4

Key Info
  • Not suitable for children
  • No pets allowed
  • Private garden

A late 18th Century townhouse with a contemporary twist....this Grade II listed property sits in the historical part of central Marlow.

Antique & contemporary furniture features throughout the house blending well with the polished wooden floors, georgian windows, and quirky accessories. In typical town house style, small but perfectly formed, deceptively spacious and bright for a bolt hole in the centre of town.

The spacious, fully equipped kitchen is flooded with natural light and leads to the dining room which is perfect for entertaining. Leading out through the stable door the private, urban garden is home to roses, lavender and jasmine; topiary trees and box hedging adding a modern twist. Perfect for eating a leisurely breakfast or late afternoon drinks, victorian cast iron garden furniture completes the picture. The property has two modern bathrooms, both having showers and one having a bath.

Situated in a conservation area, neighbouring the Mary Shelley's house and Sir William Borlase's School. The fantastic 2* Michelin star restaurant The Hand & Flowers is only metres away. in addition you are well placed for a good variety of quality eating establishments. Adjacent to the property is a direct bus service to Henley, excellent for avoiding the traffic for the Henley Regatta you can join the locals dressed in their finery on the pleasant, scenic ride through the beautiful countryside.

If you fancy a round of golf, you are minutes away from the fabulous Harleyford Estate. Ladies? You must go to the stunning Danesfield House & Spa, again less than ten minutes away. This beautiful stately home serves champagne cream teas which you can enjoy after a highly recommended spa treatment, in addition you can eat in The Orangery overlooking the breathtaking terrace.

Winter and Christmas in Marlow is like stepping into a Charles Dickens novel. The locals love to celebrate in traditional style, starting the festivities off with the Santa charity fun run. This hilarious tradition see's man, dog, children on scooters and even prams filling the streets of Marlow with a sea of red and white. Christmas lights turn on is marked with a Christmas market whereby you can keep off the chills with mulled wine or a boozy hot chocolate! But my all time favourite Marlow tradition takes place on New Years Eve. Everybody heads to the bridge just before midnight, clutching drinks to toast the New Year, once the church clock strikes midnight you are treated to a spectactular fireworks display over the Thames. You'll be glad you chose to spend it in this little town rather than the crowds in London.

Whether here for business or pleasure, you are very well catered for all your needs. The Cote Brassiere minutes from the property, serves a good variety of breakfast and brunch options from 8am. Fancy a swim or a workout? The local leisure centre overlooking Higgingson Park and the Thames is only 4 minutes walk away from the property. The park is very family friendly, perfect for games and picnics or a stroll by the river to feed the swans, the playground is very popular with the children and parents can recharge with an espresso in the cafe.

"Perfect uplifting getaway from London buzz"

Suzanne was most welcoming and warm and so was her house. It felt as if we were staying at a very close friend's place. It's filled with a lot fascinating interior detail and creates a very … More
