The Heart of England/Peak District
North Wales is a great combination of the family seaside resorts, which extend along its northern coastline and of course the magnificent mountains that make up Snowdonia Nation Park. Also located in this region are the very distinctive Island of Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula. So visitors will find a diverse holiday destination that caters for many different types of holidays from the family beach holiday to serious climbing holidays, and lots in between. There are plenty of things to do here; walking, sailing, fishing and many indoor attractions for the children. Wildlife enthusiasts will not be disappointed, with Anglesey and the Lleyn peninsula in particular being rich in diverse mix of habitats.
Mallard Cottage rests in the picturesque village of Rossett. Sitting alongside the river Alyn and scattered with quirky and historical buildings, Rossett has long been an inspiration for many artists and so acts as an idyllic and restful place to base a holiday close to the North Wales border. Located close to the popular city of Chester, those staying in Rossett will never be too far away from shops, pubs and shops, as well as a number of exciting attractions such as Chester Zoo, the historic Chester Cathedral, boating on the river Dee and the famous Chester racecourse, to name but a few. On the Welsh side, the awe inspiring Froncysyllte Aqueduct is also well worth a visit. Classed as a world heritage site in 2010, the aqueduct is the longest and highest in Britain and visitors can walk or take a boat ride across it. Considering the latter with the vast amount of gardens, museums and family attractions in and around the Wrexham and Chester area, visitors to Mallard Cottage will never be short of an exciting family day out or two.
