About the home

The Cobbler Rosscarbery is 4 star approved by the Irish Tourist Board and situated in the village of Rosscarbery. It is located within easy walking distance to the shops, pubs, Celtic Ross Hotel and a number of restaurants in the village. For children there is a playground nearby and a tennis court. In addition, Ross Leisure rent out paddle boats and canoes and they run a lovely tea shop to wait in while the rest of the family are out on the water.

The house is situated less than 2km from the Warren Beach and pitch & putt club. Less than 1km is the Rosscarbery golf range.

Recycling is encouraged and there is a local bring site in the village.

The popular tourist towns of Clonakility and Skibbereen are only 10 to 15 minutes drive away where there are supermarkets, craft shops, boutiques, coffee shops and restaurants.

Rosscarbery truly is an ideal base for touring West Cork and it is but a short drive from Baltimore, Glandore, Cape Clear and Sherkin Island.

This is a three bedroomed house which can accommodate up to six people comfortably in one double bedroom (with a sink), one large room with a double and a single bed and a third bedroom with a single bed .

There is an open plan tiled kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and dining area with patio doors overlooking the extensive back garden which is fully enclosed. The house also has a very cosy living room area with wooden flooring and an open fire. The utility room contains a washing machine and dryer. There is a toilet and shower upstairs and a toilet downstairs off the utility room.

ROSSCARBERY

Rosscarbery is a small historic town set in picturesque surroundings overlooking a sandy inlet of the rugged West Cork coastline. The town grew up around a monastery, which was established by St. Fachtna in the latter half of the sixth century. It is now a peaceful place with an attractive Square and nicely decorated buildings with traditional shop fronts. The wide variety of amenities for young and old within walking distance of the town make Rosscarbery an ideal tourist centre.

For those who just want to relax, the Warren Beach, Ownahincha Beach and the Long Strand offer safe bathing and golden sands. The more energetic are spoiled for choice with two links style Pitch and Putt courses at the Warren Beach, or golfers may improve their swing or putting at the local Driving Range.

At the Marine Leisure Centre, pedal boats, rowing dinghies or canoes are available for hire in the safest of surroundings and sailing lessons are available - whilst the children's playground and tennis courts are just nearby.

The Rosscarbery area

Visitors may experience the beauty of the area on horseback with and expert guide form one of the local Riding Centres or meet some farm animals at close range at the local Pet Farm and Agricultural Museum. For the angler, Rosscarbery offers estuary, rock, deep sea and fresh water fishing - with bait in plentiful supply. The Lagoon and estuary are great favourites with bird watchers as large numbers of duck, waders, sea and migratory birds are to be seen.

For the archaeologist, there are numerous megalithic tombs, stone circles and standing stones in the area - Drombeg being the most famous. For the historian there are many places to visit - such a s St. Fachtna's Cathedral, Castlefreke, Coppinger's Court and birthplaces of General Michael Collins and O'Donovan Rossa to name but a few. Local tour guides will be only too happy to tell of local history and folklore. Rosscarbery is a walker's paradise, with lots of quiet rural lanes running through scenic countryside with breathtaking views of land and sea.

Discovering the hidden treasures of this unspoilt area is an enriching experience. There are many reasons why Ross is not quite like any other place - it begins with the people. All this coupled with first class accommodation, restaurants, pubs in congenial surroundings make Rosscarbery a unique Holiday Centre.

“The Cobbler - a home away from home in a beautiful corner of Ireland” The Cobbler was the perfect holiday home for our family of six. Situated a few minutes walk from the main square of Rosscarbery the house is in a perfect location for exploring West Cork. The Cobbler has a lovely warm atmosphere and is beautifully furnished with a home away from home feel. Our four kids really enjoyed the large sunny back garden. The bed rooms were perfectly prepared with beautiful bed linen and all our needs were expertly catered for by the local caretaker Mary. Overall we really enjoyed our holiday in the Cobbler and would not hesitate in recommending it. Response: Thank you for reviewing “The Cobbler” . “Great Location - Garden great for kids” We had a great week with extended family in The Cobbler in Rosscarbery - the location was great, the garden was suitable for sport mad kids. The house is a little dated and could possibly do with an updated kitchen & living area. The beds were very comfortable. Everything from the booking to the meeting & greeting was friendly & efficient. Rosscarbery has so much going for it, as a base to travel around West Cork and also as a destination in itself. The beaches, the pier, the fishing, the boat club,the walks, the driving range & golf club and the village itself with lovely eateries & pubs. Response: Thank you for your kind review. The Cobbler is ideal for family's with a large enclosed garden very close to Blue Flag beaches, the nearest one is the Warren which is less than 1km distant within easy waking of the house. The Warren is also the site of Rosscarbery Pitch and Putt Club, highly recommended

“Absolutely a delightful house in a wonderful, friendly small town.” We flew into Dublin from the U.S. and rented a car to drive down to the town of Rosscarbery to find this wonderful house to live in for 2 weeks. The home was well equipped and very energy efficient - also very clean. We were welcomed by a very kind & warm person to let us in the house. From here, we explored all over - many towns, castles, etc. The people in this town were amazing! We loved O'Briens pub for a pint & Pascal (owner) and his friends were so very welcoming. We had a fantastic vacation! Thank you. Response: We were delighted to have you at our house in Rosscarbery in West Cork. Its a wonderfull part of the country, plenty to do in the region and lots of places to visit. Hope to see you again some time.
