The County Cork region

A popular and beautiful part of Ireland, County Cork on the South West has a magnificent Atlantic Coastline, with numerous Bays and Coves contrasting with the rolling farmland away from the Coast. Ireland’s largest county is home to Blarney Castle and Bantry. A great place for fishing and sailing, there are many pubs and quiet villages to discover.

Rosscarbery / Reenascreena area

The Carberrys -so called from Lord Carberry who owned most of South West Cork until the land reform- is one of the most picturesque and welcoming part of Ireland. Many days can be spent exploring the region, or just relaxing in the tranquility of your stone-built farmhouse. Some Ideas for exporing the area are:

Visit the many quaint fishing villages in the region and tasting some of the freshest seafood in Ireland
Drive to the famous Ring of Kerry and Ring of Beare on easy day trips
Walk the many trails along the coastline and the forests in the region
Rent a boat from Baltimore, a short drive from the house, to enjoy Roaring Water Bay's hundred islands
Drive along the coast to Mizen Head the Southern most tip of ireland.
Take the lovely road to 17th Century Bantry House, or go further into the magnificient mountains.
Visit the picturesque Castletownsend, seat of Somerville and Ross, authors of the Irish RM
Drive a short distance to Beautiful Glandore.
Visit the local markets in Skibbereen, one on Friday at 12 noon for home produces and a general farm market on Saturday.
