The Heart of England / Peak District / Herefordshire region

Visitors to this area can enjoy day trips to nearby Hay-on-Wye, which makes the perfect destination for a relaxing day trip, and a visit to the Black Mountains or Brecon Beacon’s National Park is well worth doing for the spectacular scenery and walking, climbing and cycling opportunities. Another worthwhile diversion while you are holidaying in Howle Hill is a trip to Hereford’s historic cathedral. There’s so much to do the only problem is fitting it all in!
The Ross on Wye area
Howle Hill is a tiny hamlet that nestles on the hills overlooking the stunning Wye Valley in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Perfectly located between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth, two ancient market towns with magnificent timbered Tudor buildings, old market halls, great shops, restaurants and pubs, Howle Hill has spectacular views towards the Royal Forest of Dean. The lovely River Wye offers many recreational opportunities – take a stroll along the banks, hop on a scenic river cruise or take in the breathtaking views from the vantage point of a hot air balloon. Venture to the 12th century Goodrich Castle, or stride out along Offa’s Dyke or the Wye Valley Walk - why not take the ferry to the Wye Valley Visitors Centre too?

,A perfect holiday! The owners were very welcoming. The cottage was outstanding - 5*. Beautifully furnished and immaculately clean. Their taste in everything matched ours. 'Mill Race Pub' in the village serves excellent food. Symond Yat & River Cruises were fantastic. 'Three Choirs Vineyard' for wine tasting was superb.
