"A perfect weekend break"
We have just returned from a truly wonderful weekend at Court Y Grove, the cottage is surrounded by breathtaking views and is beautifully decorated, however what makes this country retreat so fabulous are the owners Denis and Gaye. From the moment we arrived we felt immediately welcome and at home, feeling by the end of the first evening that we were staying with friends. Denis and Gaye are very hospitable and we were lucky enough to stay in the second evening and were treated to Gaye's famous chicken pot pie at a fraction of the cost of eating out, yummy! We loved listening to tales of life in London in the 60's and can't wait to return for a second visit. A fabulous break, we didn't want to come home!
SAM and family, great pleasure to have the opportunity to meet and greet you a pleasure and would love to welcome you back

"Gorgeous cottage - generous hosts"
Court Y Grove is actually a B&B but we were lucky enough to be able to self cater while the owners were away (they offer this occasionally).
The cottage is gorgeous - the photos indeed don't do it justice. We've stayed in loads of rented self-catering places, and this was one of the few where we found it much better than expected. Because it's a family home, it's cosy and full of quirky and interesting things (someone there really likes rabbits!), and really well stocked - it has everything you could need. Very different from the average Ikea-furnished place.
We didn't meet the owners, but had phone/email contact a number of times and met their son and friend. All really helpful and friendly and generous. Again unlike your average place, we were offered access to their kitchen supplies and unlimited wood for the fire. But the latter not needed much due to the fabulous underfloor heating.
The cottage is pretty remote - and on a windy hill - but if you like seclusion its ideal. The kitchen window has view over the black mountains - the sunset every night makes washing up a joy. Our youngest child is three - needed some supervision outdoors due to barns etc, but otherwise great for kids to roam around. The garden is really nice, and very large.
We'll definitely go again, if we can; we only left today and we already miss the crazy pheasant (Peter) who thinks he owns the place and chases cars around.
We didnt have the pleasure of meeting these guests but our son thought they were charming and treated our home with respect and were delighted that they were so happy on their short break.

"Not enough superlatives"
There are not enough to superlatives to describe this hidden gem. (very hidden). Secluded - most definitely, even my satnav with the post code could not find it. But it was well worth it when we arrived. Warmly greeted by the consummate hosts Gay and Denis with a glass of the house specialty 'Bloody Bishop'.... Bloody Delicious. The pictures on the web don't really do the house justice. My wife, two teenage boys and my mother in law were all very happy and comfortable. The place is beautifully and very tastefully furnished ...a real getaway find.
And then there is the food. It seems Nigela is dependent on Gay for recipes. Lots of food, lots of wine and much laughter. Thoroughly recommended - we will be back
Great visit, lots of fun, good food and new friendships, cant be better than that !
Thanks for the thumbs up

"I wish I could of stayed forever!!! I did not want to leave"
What a dream to wake up with such an amazing view and the to be treated like family by the most wonderful hosts, Gaye and Denis, who made the stay so enjoyable. They are the most amazing host, full of local information and stories, I don't think I stopped laughing all the time I was there. it's peaceful, beautiful, restful, full of exciting things to go and visit and see, farms, castles, great walk...but thing thing at will make me come back time and time again is the homely and cozy atmosphere provided by the amazing host. Thank you both and I look forward to next time. milena Stancomb

A unique place to stay in the most beautiful setting. The house is right out of a movie but much more comfortable! The bedrooms were all lovely ours had a huge a luxurious bed and the bath was a good deep one (showers for those who hate to wallow). As for the food; delicious, we had B&B and evening meal. Details on dietary requirements were met and the wine flowed for a lovely relaxed welcoming evening. We felt totally at home and after a long day it was a haven to return to. I cannot recommend this property more highly and will be returning whenever possible (so long as it is not already booked) especially looking forward to a winter visit when the huge real fire will be lit and the comfy sofas and good book call, however summer is glorious as there are beautiful views from the garden and masses to do in the area. Hereford is a short drive away and fascinating. One of the best places I have stayed in.
