Home description

The Summer House has been recently converted to a comfortable and luxurious standard making it a delightful rural retreat. Set on the side of Garway Hill this self catering cottage in an idyllic setting is within easy reach of Monmouth, Abergavenny, the Black Mountains and Wye Valley.

We have used locally sourced materials where possible and the house is painted with solvent free organic paint. You will find comfy beds, quality bedlinen, Laura Ashley and Cath Kidston fabrics, vintage Welsh wool blankets and natural toiletries for your use during your stay. We invite you to wander and enjoy our organically-managed field, woodland, stream and pond.

Our heated outdoor pool is also available during the Summer months. We also provide a welcome pack with lots of local goodies - such as preserves, chutney, eggs from our own free-ranging hens and local juice. For availability please check our website.

The Heart of England / Peak District / Herefordshire region

Herefordshire is a beautiful county resting on the Welsh borders. It not only has historic monuments and sites to discover, but also mountains and countryside. Wits its beautiful mountains, countryside and rivers, the county is a haven for walking, cycling, canoeing, fishing and horse riding. Local produce is celebrated here, with many pubs and restaurants offering locally and often organically grown fruit, vegetables and meat- and of course the local cider awaits your sampling!


Ross on Wye / Monmouth / Garway Hill area

Canoeing and fishing on River Wye in nearby Symonds Yat. Adventure activities, abseiling, cycle hire and trails, paint balling, and sculpture trails can be found in in the nearby Forest of Dean. The Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons are a haven for horse riding, walking and other adventure activities. Many castles, church, cathedrals, historic monuments, market towns and beautiful gardens to visit. Nearby Hay on Wye is a must for book lovers and shoppers. Hereford Cathedral houses the famous Mappa Mundi and the Chained Library. Herefordshire offers a variety of activities to suit all interests. The Summer Room: The Summer Room is part of the Summer House and is accessed through the garden. It is a beautiful bright room with an antique French day bed for resting and relaxing. There are also lots of books, games and puzzles to keep you busy!

Housekeeping: Luxury hand towels, bath towels, flannels and linen provided. Pool towels also provided. Full changeover for stays longer than 7 days. Delicious organic welcome hamper provided on arrival. Massages, veg box and home cooked frozen meals can be provided.

Further details outdoors:
The property benefits from its own enclosed garden with lawn area and wooden seating. There is a BBQ and fire pit for cosy evenings. Guests are welcome to explore the 3 acres of organically managed fields, woodland, pond and spring belonging to Garway House. Our free-ranging chickens would also love to meet you! The heated outdoor pool, shared with the owners, is available throughout the summer months.

As we have young children ourselves if there is anything that you need that is not provided please do ask. We have stair gates and window locks on upstairs windows and we can offer additional high chairs if required. Travel cots and bed guards on request.

Prices includes all fuel and linen.
