The Costa Brava/Catalonia region
The Costa Brava is a coastal region of north-eastern Catalonia, Spain, in the comarques of Alt Empordà, Baix Empordà and La Selva, in the province of Girona. Costa is the Catalan word for 'coast', and Brava means 'rugged' or 'wild'. The Costa Brava stretches from Blanes, 60km northeast of Barcelona, to the French border.
Small towns like Cadaqués (close to the French border and close to the foothills of the Pyrenees) have attracted artists such as Salvador Dalí (Dalí's Museum at Figueres is one of the most important and visited museums in Catalonia) and Pablo Picasso and are now fashionable resorts.
The coast between Roses and Tossa de Mar has many delightful small coastal towns such as Pals, Begur, Tamariu, Llafranc, L'Estartit, Aigua Blava, Fornells, Calella de Palafrugell, Palamós and Sant Feliu de Guixols.
Roses / Port de la Selva area
The village offers the necessary facilities but far from the touristic crowds: weekly vegetables market, many excellent restaurants for eating out, local activities for everybody and traditional festivities.
Beaches: This villa has far the best beaches of catalonia, for it´s great location next to the natural park of cap de creus. The beach "el pas" received last year the award of the best beach in catalonia. Other beaches around are fantastic as well. Some of them, because its location into the natural park, can be just reached walking or by bike.
Sports: parachute jumps, sea activities: sealing, snorkelling, diving, ..., golf courses, winter and adventure sports in Pirineus mountains.
Recommendations: taste the Catalan cuisine and buy typical hand craft products: any type of food, ceramic, ...
Port de la selva is well located for the main towns of Figueres and Girona and only one hour and a half from Barcelona. In Figueres you can find the Dali Museum, and an important shopping area. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays there are markets. 25 minutes by car.
Several small Mediterranean villages along the coast to visit: Cotlliure, Llançà, Cadaques-Cap de Creus where you can visit Dalí's house-museum, fishing towns of Roses and L'Escala, touristic resort of Empuriabrava. Natural areas protected: Cap Creus(sea), L'Albera (mountain), Els Aiguamolls ( important bird area), La Garrotxa (volcanic area) perfect to walk and highcking. 1 hour from Pirineus mountains.
Medieval villages: Peralada with a greatest musical festival, Roman Besalu, volcanic Santa Pau, Pals, La Bisbal with ceramic industry and the Jewish city of Girona.
How to get there
Flights: The main airport of Catalunya is Girona-Costa Brava, recently upgraded and now served from a number of regional airports in Europe.
Scheduled airlines: Girona is served by the local Spanish airline Spanair and also by Transavia, but the majority of flights are with Ryanair who service a number of destinations throughout Europe including many airports in the UK and Ireland. - www.ryanair.com

Barcelona airport is only an hour away and is served by the major airlines of the world.

Further details indoors: Steps lead up from the road to the private entrance, the gardens and swimming pool. This is a very bright villa with large windows, white painted walls contrast with the modern stone floor, wooden furniture and comfortable chocolate coloured leather sofas and wooden chairs in the living rooms. This great decoration extend into the bedrooms and bathrooms, in this villa made with 1rst quality luxury details.
A modern kitchen leads off the living area and has its own breakfast table and is well equipped with a ceramic hob and oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. This kitchen, that leads also to a big terrace with dining table, has spectacular views, as all the roms in this villa. There is a separate cloakroom, and a utility room with a washing machine.
Further details outdoors: The grounds of this villa are also on two levels with the swimingpool just a few steps down from the upper terrace. This upper terrace with the swimingpool and the solarium, from where you can have great views of the sea and the natural park, leads to the other terrace, located in front of the main livingroom and the kitchen. This covered terrace, provides a great shadow on summer when the sun is heating strongly and it´s perfect for eating outside, with a big wooden table from where you have splendid views of the sea, the pirinees mountains, the natural park of cap de creus and the southern edge of France.
The swimming pool is surrounded by a further terrace and an area of lawn, both with great views, and is accessed by Roman steps. Over the house there is a private parking that can accommodate 2 cars.

The changeover day is normally Friday, but we are able to offer holidays for different durations that allow more flexible start days outside of the months of July and August.
When you are considering flights please note that the arrival times at the apartment should be between 1600 and 2000 and that you will need to vacate the apartment by 1000 on the day of departure.
You will need to pay a security deposit to cover against any breakages or additional items and full details will be advised to you at the time of booking.

"We had a great time in the villa in El Port de la selva. The villa is spectacular, luxurious, and recently built" - Mr and Mrs Bisson.
"We stayed at this spacious villa in fall 2009. It has an incredible 180 degree view of the sea, sky and mountains (the pictures don´t do it justice). Very convenient to the small town of Port de la selva, lots of different stunning beaches and abuts the Cap de creus park which has hiking trails, ruins and bunkers (and more amazing views) and scuba diving. Is is an easy drive (1/2hour) to Cadaqués (Dalí´s seaside home), Figueres (Dalí museum). the Dant Pere de Rodes monastery and the eastern Pyrenees, incluiding volcanic park. The villa is excellently supplyed with linens etc; the kitchen is modern and efficient. Dan is very nice, speaks excellent english and quickly dealt professionaly with any minor issue we had.
