The Costa Brava/Catalonia/Barcelona region
Palau Saverdera Overview:
The Costa Brava is an excellent all year-round destination so when you visit depends on what you would like to do. The Walking season in the Pyrenees starts in mid June and ends in late September. This is good time for Cycling, Horse Riding and more extreme sport like rafting, hang Gliding or parachuting.
It is quite possible to do these activities out this period, but the weather may be unpredictable and you cannot guarantee that all the normal summer walking facilities will be available.
The ski season begins in November, if the snow arrives, and ends after the Easter holidays.
Casa Albera is situated in The Parc Natural 'Cap de Creus' which was granted protected status in 1986, creating safe havens for indigenous flora and fauna and helping to preserve an unspoilt environment of sheer escarpments and hidden villages.
Perfect walking country, or for roaming by car, the region is home to secluded monastic ruins, Neolithic dolmens and a stunning variety of wildlife, including tortoises, a protected species of Albera cow, golden eagles and wild boar.
