The Costa de Almeria region
Costa De Almeria is located at the eastern edge of Andalucia. Probably the least known of all the Spanish Costas, the coastline has miles of lovely beaches. Inland lies Europe's only desert region where numerous 'spaghetti westerns' were shot, including 'A Fistful of Dollars' . Almeria city is a lively, modern, very Spanish centre, take a ferry from here to North Africa. The imposing Alcazaba, a Moorish fortress is perched on a hilltop overlooking the town. With an average of 320 days of sunshine per year, Almeria has the best climate in Spain. Temperatures can vary between 30 degrees in summer to 16 degrees in the winter months. The lack of rain makes for an ideal year round location.
Roquetas de Mar area
Roquetas De Mar is popular with holidaymakers throughout the year, due to it's wonderful climate. Spend a day relaxing on one of the lovely beaches, safe for children, with amenities for water sports. Stroll along the promenade with it's English, Spanish and German bars. If you would like a shopping trip, Gran Plaza nearby is a large shopping centre with shops,restaurants, cinema and bowling alley. There is a water park nearby which is open in high season. Golfers will enjoy the courses nearby at Playa Serena, La Envia and Almerimar. Take a trip inland to see the desert landscape, the setting for many spaghetti westerns. Playa Serena nature reserve offers bird watching, and walks. The evenings are very relaxed in Roquetas, with many bars and restaurants and tapas bars, all within easy walking distance.
