The Costa de Almeria region
Almeria is the only desert in Europe with over 3000 hours of sunshine per year. Well positioned to visit areas such as Granada (Alhambra Palace), Cabo de Gata, Sierra Nevada, Alpujarras, etc. Many of the spaghetti westerns were filmed near here - visit Tabernas and Albaricoques and relive the days of the Wild West (Fistful of Dollars, Few Dollar More, Good Bad and the Ugly).
Roquetas de Mar / Playa Serena area
Well-established, bustling resort offering easy walking access (no hills) to all facilities. International cuisine always available, including Chinese, Indian, Italian and British standard fare. Sweeping bay with long promenade. Theatre, cinemas, and shopping mall a short drive away.
How to get there
Just 35 minutes from Almeria International Airport. Direct flights available from several UK airports from Easy Jet, Monarch, Ryan Air and others. Plus several charter flights. Please contact these direct. Avis and other major car hire firms operate from the airport, and there is also a taxi rank. Malaga, Granada and Murcia airports are approx. 3 hrs drive.
