Home description

Recently fully renovated, Gemita is truly a delightful holiday retreat, which can comfortably accommodate 4 people. To the north are the mountains of the Grazalema Sierras. To the south are rolling hills and the beautiful historic town of Ronda. There are sheep and goats grazing close by and you will often come across their shepherd taking them home for milking.

The house is very private, fully enclosed, and not over looked in anyway but is still only a short distance from the main road to Sevilla and only ten minutes drive to Ronda.
The garden is of neat proportions with shrubs and trees. There is a large terrace with shade from the old fig tree and many potted plants. The swimming pool (approx. 5mx3m) is enclosed by attractive ironwork, making it safer for children. The terrace provides plenty of room for outside living and barbeques.

The Costa del Sol/Malaga region

The area has still not attracted massive tourist attention and therefore is still truly Spanish which is a delight. There are shops, bars and restaurants (Ventas) close by where excellent food can be obtained at very reasonable prices.
The area is renowned for its flora and fauna. Enjoy breathtaking views when walking the beautiful countryside or by simply touring around by car.

The wild bird life is a bird watchers paradise with frequent sightings of vultures and eagles.
Dating back to the Roman occupation of Spain, Ronda is famous for its spectacular gorge, its historical monuments and the oldest bullring in Spain.reflecting the influence of its Phoenician,Muslim and Christian conquerors.

The town is a prime example of the whitewashed Andalucian architecture, picturesque balconies and gardens. It is situated high above the surrounding plains and views of the impressive Sierra de Grazalema and Sierra de las Nieves, offer a perfect contrast to the fertile fields below them.
This is a very beautiful destination and the ideal place to enjoy more sophisticated Andalucian gastronomy, shop in elegant boutiques or admire the beautiful ceramics.

Ronda / Grazelema Natural Park area

Ronda lies perched upon a colossal rock with the sheer walls of the Tajo gorge dropping almost 200 metres down to the Guadalevin River and the lush valley below encircled by mountains. The sight is breathtaking, so beautiful, to the point of being unreal.

It is one of the most remarkable places in Andalucia. Pre-historic man lived amongst these hills, then the Greeks followed by the Romans. The Moors occupied Ronda for more than 700 years. Their mark is left on the beautiful architecture of the old quarter.

The bull ring is one of the oldest in Spain, built during the Baroque period. Every great matador in history has fought his bulls inside this spectacular arena. Hemingway sat in the best seats in the shade witnessing yet another Death in the Afternoon.
There are plazas in the surrounding streets where one can take coffee and drinks together with the wonderful local tapas. The narrow streets are full of interest with white washed walls, cobblestones and many beautiful churches and historic buildings.

The parks and the architecture are a joy, Spend an afternoon at the Mondragon Palace once the residence of Kings. The cool patios and jasmine scented gardens with the refreshing sound of fountains, it is easy to imagine oneself back in time when the Moors ruled this part of Spain.

Ronda is a special place; it is one of those places that pull you back time after time. One never tires of its beauty. Along side all of this culture are many modern day shops where one can buy almost anything. The restaurants are many and some are famed for their gastronomic excellence. Ronda although visited by tourists from all over the world has not been spoilt or over run.
