Our pretty Andalucian townhouse "La Escalera" (the staircase) is located in the casco antiguo, (old town) of Ronda. This is a unique property set on 3 levels and is situated in the heart of the historical residential part of Ronda. This is a lovely place to relax in. Whatever your musical taste, choose a CD or DVD on the high quality hi-fi system, sit reading a book, or enjoy a drink and olives on the rooftop terrace, this house will appeal to the traveller who likes to fit in.

This perfect little house is an ideal place to start your adventure and to immerse yourself in local Rondenan life. You will really feel part of the community of local Ronda residents whose families have lived here for decades. It truly is a privilege to be part of this community and traditional Andalucian way of life. Close to the Palacio de Marquis de Salvatierra, El Tajo, the new bridge, Banos Arabes and the old bridge, it would be difficult to find somewhere so perfectly placed as this house in Ronda. Lots of antique shops, beautiful squares to sit in and a local corner shop that sells everything you need. This is a great area to explore for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. It is an area of natural beauty with nature reserves and bird life. The town is renowned for its gastronomical fayre and you will be spoiled for choice of tapas bars and restaurants.

The house is fully modernised inside, with an open plan aspect and would suit a small family or a couple or close friends due to its open plan aspect. The living space is light and bright and airy. The accommodation sleeps 4/5 people, It has 1 double bedroom, 1 double sofa bed in sitting room and 1 single chair/bed on top level with stunning views of countryside. A Lovely rooftop terrace with views is located on the 3rd floor. There is a fitted kitchen on the ground floor and a shower room/wc next to the main bedroom area on 1st floor. Although the property is around 200 years old, it is fully modernised whilst retaining its unique, quirky charm.

There is a lovely rooftop terrace to relax with a book, listening to your favourite CD with a bottle of local wine and some local cheeses, jamon Iberico and olives.

The kitchen/diner is located on the ground floor. Double bedroom with adjacent shower room/wc on 1st level. Sitting room with open aspect on 2nd level with double sofa bed. Single bed/chair on 3rd level (open aspect) with sliding patio doors to enclosed roof terrace.

The house is tiled throughout and may not be suitable for guests with mobility difficulties or children under the age of 10 years

About this location

The Andalucia region

Close proximity to Spanish white villages to explore, i.e. Alpandaire, Grazalema - 40 mins, Zahara - 40 mins, Sierra de la Nieves national park - 20 mins. This is a fabulous walking/cycling area and you will find great authentic restaurants to try out local gastronomic mountain food.

Costa del Sol beaches 45 minutes away or 45kms. Nearest beach San Pedro/Estepona/Puerto Banus 45 minutes by car to coast and beaches.

Ronda

The historic town of Ronda is set on a plateau high above sea level just 60km from Marbella and 116km from Malaga. The town is split in two sections by the 100m Tajo Gorge and offers some very spectacular scenery. If you are looking for wide open spaces and some peace and quiet then visit the beautiful Sierra de la Nieves Nature Park with its protected plant and animal species.

It is an area which is famous for its bullfighting, and has the oldest Plaza del Toros in Spain. Wonderful gastronomic restaurants and local produce noted from this region. From June to September local outdoor community swimming pool open to the public - 10 mins walk from the house

"A little bit different and a very good location"

The location and the house have lots of character. The street is quiet despite being a only a short distance from the main street. Expect the house to be a little cool for those taking a winter break … More

Thank you for your review of the house. We try to offer guests a few personal touches to make their stay memorable. We are looking at installing eco friendly heating in the cooler months but we are limited on what changes we can do to the house due to being situated in the historical part of town and regulations, we are hoping to rectify that soon. Best regards

Thank you for your lovely review on our house. So pleased you enjoyed your stay and it met your expectations, and you got a real flavour of local Rondenan life. You are quite right, The area around the bed is compact, that is why we have kept the room open plan, the house design is a bit quirky (in previous times, the bedroom was the kitchen! However, we could make the other double bed up in the sitting room, which is more spacious if people would prefer.
